Default Should the clock have light?

So I've noticed in my Honda accord 2000 LX v6 model that the little clock above the AC buttons doesn't have a light. During the day it isn't an issue but during the night when I have the lights on, all the interior lights work flawlessly yet being the factory (soon changing to LED.) should that clock have a light? Is there a way to fix it? Do I have to remove the dash?

Thanks guys.

My 93 has a minibulb in there to provide illumination, I imagine yours is the same. My clock will pop out of the dash without removing anything.

Alright thanks I'll look into it today. Yeah I was wondering. Would be weird if it didn't have a light.

I just did this, piece of cake. Here is a link:

I'm a little slow, went for a long time wishing I could see my clock at night, only randomly came across a post about changing the bulb while looking for how to change my wife's Odyssey dash lights.

Oh, one other thing: I paid like $4 for the bulb assembly, but on my wife's Honda I went to RadioShack and bought just the bulbs and re-wired them into the sockets. That also was very, very easy. I didn't realize it till after I had bought the whole bulb/socket assembly from Honda for my clock. Only way my dealer sells it, but if you find the bulb at the Shack you can just rewire it into the existing socket.

(Of course, if it's not worth $4 to run around looking for the right bulb and going through the hassle, then just hit up Honda. If I were doing 5-10 bulbs would definitely be worth the bulb-only angle, like I did on the van.)

The Shack is still useful? I didn't think they had anything like that anymore.

Yeah, they have a big set of drawers in the back with assorted tiny bulbs and electrical components. Not all of the stores have shut down, btw, they are keeping several of them. Anyway, I paid a little over $3.00 for 8 bulbs (on sale).

A single bulb/socket assembly (the Honda part number, they don't just sell the bulb) runs from $4-6 each, depending on which dash/accessory light it is.

You don't even need a diy to replace the bulb in the socket, it is pretty obvious how the wire goes when you look at it.

Again, I may not do it for a single one that went out, might be worth the $4 to not hassle with finding a Shack and identifying the right bulb and then still having to swap it, but could save quite a bit of money if replacing a dozen of them.

Since I had my wife's Honda taken apart already, I went ahead and did them all 8 since it was so cheap doing just the bulbs, so shouldn't have to do it again for a long time. Doing one at a time is both more expensive and requires taking it all apart every time. Certainly a judgment call!
