Should a 95 Accord V6 be loud?

Should a 95 Accord V6 be loud?
I was given a 1995 Honda Accord LX with a 2.7L V6. The car has about 156,000 miles on it, and routine maintenance was performed at 60,000 miles. The owner said he got the oil changed when necessary, so I do not know how often he took care of it.
The engine of this car is loud. It almost sounds like a diesel when revving. At idle, the car is very quiet. I had a 4 cylinder 97 Nissan Altima, and this Accord is much louder than that.
I'm just wondering if it is supposed to be loud, or if there could be a problematic issue involved. Was this car known for this? Thank you.

Well my dad said he is pretty sure that there is a valve tap in the part of the engine that is closest to the back of the car. The only thing I can compare it to is a quiet sounding diesel. It has that unique gurgling noise. Like I said, you can only really hear it when youve got the engine above idle.
I have no experience with Hondas, so who knows, this could be what the engine normally sounds like.

Sorry for double post, but here is a video I put up on youtube. It may not be up for a few minutes because it was uploaded a second ago.
You can hear the rattling diesel noise better when I move in closer. Tell me what you think.

I just watched another video and I think it sounds similar on someone elses car. Maybe it just sounds like that to begin with:

Jeez! No it should not sound like that. It sounds like hellacious valve lash...but there is a lot of background noise.
Use a long screwdriver/prybar and place your ear up to it and then touch it to the valve covers as a ghetto stethescope. My guess is it will be very obvious where the noise is coming from! Definitely not normal...its a pretty quiet motor normally.

This made me feel alot better. Seems that this is a standard issue for some Honda engines.

sadly theres not much you can do bout the valves ticking. The v6 came with hydraulic valves unlike is 4 cyl counterpart. The hydraulics are supposed to automatically adjust. Where in the 4 cyl you can maually adjust until its fixed.
I have a 97 v6 and its slowly getting louder as well.

Our 1995 V6 with only 96K on it sounds similiar to that, there is almost nothing you can do about it except run thicker oil, that might quiet it down some, although that really is not worth it
