Default Severe Oil Leak

Hey Guys, (and found out that there are Ladies out here), I have a 92 Accord Ex, and I knew about a minor oil leak from the oil pan gasket every 800-1k miles. Moderate weather...but in the last 2 weeks the temp has dropped to 9 degrees and my oil issues have gotten worse. Today I used one quart to go to work and one to come back (21 Miles one way) I can't see how the temp would affect the Oil...

Any Ideas?
Thanks Much,
G

Cold temperatures makes seals shrink, creating bigger gaps. The cold can also shrink poor-quality round seals, such as the crank seal, enough to completely unseat them.

I would just replace the gasket if you have the opportunity to.

Are you sure it's only leaking from the oil pan? I believe the 4th Gen Accords also suffered from the balance shaft seal issue.

I would get it looked at immediately. You could ruin your engine! The oil pan gasket is so easy to change, too.

I found the oil leak, it's not where I thought. I replaced the oil pan gasket and did an oil change, cranked her up and found the actual leak. Directly below the oil filter is a "teat" if you will, and that's where the leak is. I've gone thru the service manual and can't figure out it's function...other than to leak oil. Is there a sure fire way to plug this hole?

Thanks Much,
G

Mine had this issue. Get a retainer for the front balance shaft seal from Honda and a new seal. Don't let it go too long. Mine lost all 4 quarts in a few min. Luckily I caught it and shut the car off!

I found out where it's leaking...I hope the picture shows up in this post. it's directly below the oil filter. As long as I'm going forward the oil light stays off but when I use the brake to slow down...it comes on and flashes.

Thanks Much,
G
I've tried to copy the pic out of the Service manual (PDF) and paste it here but it's not working.
Ideas?

Tear her apart and look for the problem. Must be a worn gasket somewhere.

Here we go...in the picture, the bottom arrow, pointing at the oil cooler passes right thru where the leak is

The picture is called Leak.pdf and it gave no error when I attached it. I don't see it but hopefully it went thru.

Thanks,
G

The oil cooler O-ring is bad. It's a common point for a high-volume oil leak, especially in cold weather.

You'll need part number 91316-PE7-730. Remove the oil filter and the oil cooler to replace the O-ring.

I'll look at that...but I saw oil pouring out of that hole...when I cranked her up. Might be a pressure malfunction. I saw another thread recently that mentioned, I can't recall it...any idea what the hole does?

Thanks,
G
