I have a 1996 Honda Accord EX car. The lound scratch noise sound from front tire area was heard when I applied brake plate with very low speed and turn to parking space (The more noise heard when left turn than heard when right turn) Also lound scratch noise sound appeared when I put shift in P, released brake plate and turn steering wheel left to right and right to left. But no any such noise appeared when the car run and turns (either left turn or right turn) OR brake plate applied and went straight to parking space (tires kept straight). The two front drive shaft/axis were replaced last week. The power steering fluid is very dark. ATF, ABS and PSF fluid are all full and no any leak. Two months ago the technician said that the brake pads still have 50% reminding when the car was sent to oil change. Do you have any experience for this problem and what component failed? Thank you very much for any instuctions and helps.

Are you maybe due for brake pads? Or, I had used Autozone's brake pads once and one of them separated from the metal backing and made a slight grinding sound like what you describe. I returned them and bought the OEM Honda pads instead.

Get your ball joints checked if you haven't.

If it breaks, and nothing holds the knuckle and the front control arm together, your tire goes sideways, your CV joint rips, and you probably wreck a fender. Check that soon! ASAP!

I also get a scratching noise too when I go through dirt roads. Some of those little rocks must've got caught between the dust shield and rotor or something.

You didn't say in your post, but did you replace your CV axles in an effort to get rid of your noise or did the noise appear after you replaced the axles? If the noise appeared after the axles were replaced then you might check to make sure your hub nut was properly torqued.

Two small cracks were found on hose which is connected between PS pump and resevoir. No any scratch noise appeared again from tire area when turning sterring wheel at very low speed or stopped after sealed that two cracks. Thank you very much for all helps.

This generation Accord has had recurring complains about dry LOWER ball joints. You can thank some bean counter somewhere for Honda no bothering with grease fittings on their Ball Joints.
The noise Ball Joints make is described more as an "ERRrrk" or a creaking noise rather than a "scratching" noise. Dry ball Joints traditionally make noise when the weather turns cold; but can get to the point where they make noise all the time. Let them go too long and symptoms like excessive steering effort, steering wheel will not self-center or even catastrophic failure is possible. If the ball Joints haven't changed out yet, they are probably LONG overdue.

On the chance it is INDEED a scratching noise; it's possible one of the Brake Rotors stone shield was bent while the axles were being worked on. One may be making contact with a rotor as the car moves.
