Default Rubbing noise coming from right front brake rotor. Pic included. Help Diagnose?

2002 Accord Ex V6

I think I have pinpointed where the rub is on the rotor. I've never really seen anything like it. It looks like it is rubbing on the inside portion of the rotor on the very outer edge (as you can see where my finger is pointing.) Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before and what could be causing this to happen.

I compared this side with the drivers side and there is a definite difference. It doesn't seem like it is making the wheel hang up while turning it by hand compared to the other side. It has actually been rubbed so the metal is shiny. The other side is still "rust" colored like it should be.

The rotors and pads were replaced less than 20000 miles ago. No problems until now. Could something be stuck underneath the caliper??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

That is the dust shield it is rubbing on. Either remove it (which is a lot of work) or just bend it back. Once you bend it back, just spend the hub (rotor) and make sure it isn't rubbing anymore.

have you looked at the picture correctly its not rubbing on the dust shield. its the caliper its rubbing on. its not riding right when braking. if it was rubbing on the dust shield the evidence would be on the outside of the rotor. on this application you can see that its rubbing on the inside of the rotor. so its not the dust shield. i would say make sure you put the pins in the correct order. they have there spot. in the back of the caliper youll see some letters. and same on the bolt head that holds the caliper. im not sure if your calipers have it or not but one of the pins has a seal type rubber on the tip

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...uestid=1034991 the tiny rubber piece is what goes on the gap of the bolt

and this is what my guide bolt/pin looks like at the tip where the seal goes. i found mine deep inside the caliper

Have you check the clips that hold the brake pads in?

Either this, or a rock has gotten trapped between the caliper and rotor.

Remove the caliper and make sure there are no foreign objects trapped.

Sorry for the long wait for a reply. I finally found the time to pull the caliper apart. I did happen to be that the clip that hold the pads in was rubbing on the inside part of the rotor.

Hopefully this was the right thing to do... I decided to bend the clip back a little bit. I also compared it to the opposite side. The one side of the clip looked like it had been broken off, hence the reason it was rubbing in the first place..

I also did a brake job on my 2004 civic this weekend. There aren't any clips like that in the civic calipers. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason for that?

Thankfully, the brakes work and sound perfect now. Thank you for your help guys.

Can that clip be removed? I had the same issue for months and finally fixed that problem a few days ago, but it's starting to do it again today. I feel like taking it out so it won't do it anymore.
