RE:1990 Honda Accord Speedometer Problem
Ok, so I had replies about my speedometer problem of people wanting me to be more detailive.
1990 Honda Accord EX, AUTOMATIC Trans.
Check Engine light comes on every once in awhile, on the highway mainley.
Speedometer, Odometer and Cruise control doesn't work. They sometimes do work, for very little periods of time. When they do work, the cruise control is able to kick on. I know a little but not alot about cars, so if somebody could help me out that would be great, other than me taking it to a honda dealership paying 100$ an hour for a diagnostic
Thank you,
-Rob

If you were to tell us that the "Service Engine" lamp was on, I'd suggest the problem was endemic of a defective VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). The signal from this single sensor is supplied, not only to the ECM (Engine Control Module), the TCM (Transmission Control Module (auto) and the Speedometer but also drives the Odometer and the Cruise Control System. Anything which requires knowing how fast the car is traveling.
The "Service Engine" lamp works, right?
I suspect (tentatively) a poor connection either at the cluster, or at the ECM.
If you can think of other things you may have noticed, please relay them. There's not a lot to work with here. Maybe with a few more 'hints'....." [quote]
OK, now that you've elaborated:
VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor or it's wiring or connector.
