which is PS return hose?
I'm trying to follow a "how-to" on changing out the power steering fluid. One of the initial instructions is to disconnect the return hose from the reservoir, which is supposed to be the "upper one". On my car (92 Accord) there is a hose at the bottom of the reservoir but also there are two upper ones at the same level. Which of these two is the return hose?

The return hoses are low pressure hoses so you should be able to squeeze them. One return hose goes from the steering rack to the reservoir and then another from the reservoir to the pump. The final hose will go back to the steering rack. It will be a bit sturdier because it is high pressure. Sound like you just want to disconnect one of the return hoses from the lowest location you can get to easily to drain some fluid.

Even though it's for a Civic I'm fairly certain it should work with my Accord. Just was uncertain about which of the hoses is considered the return line.

WRONG! The Honda factory service manual says to jack the front up so the wheels are off of the ground. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the pump. Put the hose into an empty container. Start the engine. Move the steering wheel back and forth lock to lock several times until no fluid is coming out. It is ok to run it dry for a short time. Then reconnect the return hose. Refill with genuine Honda power steering fluid. Then move the steering wheel again left and right to bleed the air out of the system. This is the PROPER WAY.

Re: which is PS return hose?
Thanks MuffinMan for the link to that thread which should definitely be helpful for me I think.
Okay here's a picture of my reservoir. Bottom hose goes to pump. Upper hose in foreground goes to radiator. Upper hose in background goes down toward steering rack.
In the following diagram, they call the lower hose (#16) the suction tube. One of the upper hoses (#18) is called the oil cooler return tube, and the other upper hose (#22) is called the combination pipe return tube:

So although what could be considered the "return tube" is the tube on the bottom which goes to the pump, the two upper tubes actually have the word "return" as part of their particular part naming according to that diagram. So that seems to confuse me or add to my uncertainty about this.

Re: which is PS return hose?
So if was going to do the DIY procedure as I showed the link in post #4 here, which of the two upper hoses (since both of those are apparently return lines and not the bottom one as I understood the other guy to say) do I disconnect and run that hose into an empty container? And if I just disconnect one of those what do I do with the other?
