Default Plz Bare with me...

I'm completly new but eager to learn.

Okay, I got my first car from my parents. They had a 1995 Honda Accord EX VTEC Sedan. I had work to get the seals fixed. So they got fixed, but the car hasn't been driven in a few months. I was going to sell it to get a better car but then i thought about it and i started to really appreciate my honda. I get my license Wednesday, I started to drive it a few weeks ago around the block. When i floor the engine from 0, the car makes like a puffing sound and it takes it a while to pick up speed, until it gets to around 20 mph. I put fuel injection but the problem remains. I know its kinda obvious but should i get a tuneup.

Also, I've did my research and look all around the helpful faqs. I even fixed all my door locks. But I don't know when my vtec kicks in or if it even still works. Do i have to engage it or does it do it automatically. what can i do because i am clueless. I have checked the forums and searched but i don't know where to start.

Someone plz help. Remember when you were this clueless, didn't you want someone to enlighten you.

One thing I would recommend is that you take it by a good, well known shop and ask for a used car inspection. They might charge a fee for it but being new to the game it might be just what you need. They will test drive the car, put it up in the air, do a full shakedown and inspection. That way if there is an issue with your car you will know.

It is REALLY hard to take "my car sputters when I floor it" and turn it into a diagnostic breakdown. Not being a douche or nothing but really.

If it has been 30k since it has had a tune-up, hell yeah. Go to the parts store, grab a cap, rotor, plugs, wires, filters, oil, pcv, etc, etc... And knock it out. Or take it to a shop. Being a 95 i'm sure it could use it. It won't hurt!

Also, remember the timing belt. Check and see if it has ever been done. (ask your parents). If not, start thinking about a replacement motor. HA! Naa really, GET IT DONE! I think what, every 70K it should be done.

And one more thing, when just learning or a seasoned pro, books are your friend. Read up brotha! You can never learn too much

have the timing checked, it might be that the new T-belt is a tooth off.
