Default Please help w/92 accord spark plugs

Hello, I am trying to learn how to do things myself to my car...This may be a stupid question to most people...but I want to change my spark plugs and I don't know where they are or what to do. When everyone stops laughing (smile) I Truly want to learn how to do these things and there is no one I can ask... I bought the plugs, wrench, extension, ect....everything they said I needed...if you could give me step by step instructions I Truly would appericate it...and Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...

That hurt... I have read other questions on here and people was nice to them...I was hoping to learn how to do a few things myself...I live a long way from a town, but if you could tell me which book to buy that will explain things in terms that someone new at this stuff can understand I will gladly buy it. Everyone has to start out at the beginning...but thank you for your suggestion...Michelle

dude i am sorry dont take it personal its just funny that you dont even know where they are. look for the fat wires going into the top of your engine they leed to your spark plugs, pull the round looking rubber thing up and look down the hole presto there is your spark plugs not a very good description but i dont know how to in simple terms they might have a better one in the top of the accord forum. sorry if i sounded like a jackass i just thought it was funny oh and just go to the auto store and they should have a book on your year. good luck, you will laugh too after you figure it out .

Michelle,

the basics can be found in a chiltons book for your specific car. They are around 15 bucks. You can just go to a car shop, and get a spark plug wrench. Then buy the spark plugs from the shop, and make sure they are gapped. (or ask them to show you how to do it.) Also pic up a grease called "anti-seize " which will be used on the threads of the spark plugs. Car part stores usually have nice guys working there, which can help you if you just ask!

put the anti-seize on the threads, and next pull of the spark plug wire caps. then its just screwing on/off. now just hand tighten it and you are done!

Hello and Thank You for your response, I went to AutoZone and bought the wrench, extension, plugs and the anti-freeze..I told them this was the first time I have done anything to a car...they were very nice, they didn't mention a book...I did pull a wire up ... but when I pulled the wire part out of the engine I didn't see a spark plug, there is a long tube looking thing on the end of the wire, I put the thing back in the engine. I was so excited when I bought the tools and stuff to get started, but when I didn't see the spark plug I felt lost......I know this sounds funny to all of you, and it would to me about things that I know about....But I Really do want to learn how to do these things... and I Thank You all for any help...Michelle

Just get your book first, then when you want to do something or want to know where something is, you can just look it up. If you can understand and follow directions you can do a lot of the maintenance and repair on your car yourself. I had a 92ex for twelve years, and learned a lot from the manual and most importantly saved some money on repairs and maintenance. I had purchased the Helms manual (the one honda machanics use). If you read up on something, and still have questions some of the guys on here know what their talking about, and will help you out. Good luck. Oh, I almost forgot, it's anti-seize
