faran u should get both seals cus ull be in there anyway and they're only like $25 for both. the best place to get them is honda. they might have them in stock. what u need is a 1/4in ratchet, 10mm socket, a stubby 10mm wrench, and about 6in extension for the top bolts. the side 3 bolts(not 4) look scary but theyre not that bad. just a couple of wires in the way

I did not mind it honestly I accept you know a lot but that thing does not make you superior its a technical and professional forum please see the forum rules if you are expert and know that much why are you using HT????

I am not trying to hijack at all why should I start a new thread since its the same topic, same discussion, same issue, same problem and same HONDA ACCORD forum.

Hope it will clear!!! arkangel2487 thanks for all of your help and explanation but those lower 3 bolts look horrible as I tried to look at them there was no room to pull them out what should I do to create room so that I can easily remove them.

How much would it be even if he did take off the intake and replace it plus an oil filter and quart of oil? Im thinking no where near $400

I told him that the guy i got the car from thinks its the head gasket and gave me $300 towards the repair so he thought $400 was fair since I only had to come out of pocket $100. and thought he could get by with chargin me that, but luckily I did some research on these awsome forums, now hopefully the shady mechanic doesn't come to my house in the middle of the night and fuc wit my car!!!!

its prob around 400 when u figure $80 hour labor. and stay away from craigslist mechanics. there obviously desperate.

i guess u could take off the egr and intake but thats about it. the bolts arent that long. use the pics for reference and the tools i told u. it wont be hard once u get in there

How much will a shop charge me for my front brakes, just rotors 94 accord and how much for a replacement fuel filter as well.

Im thinking about doing the fuel filter myself but the brakes seem pretty involved.

I would rather say to do the Brake rotors as Fuel filter on this car is PITA though Rotors is not easy as well but still they are simple just need Patience and energy check the FAQS they have a very detailed tutorial on that

94 Honda accord ex 170k 2.2l vtec

Ok so I just went to this shady mechanic who could have done anything to my car who knows what, but he replaced the vtec solenoid gasket, and said he had to remove the intake manifold to get to it. Also he said the oil filter I had was a different size than the one he put on. And now 2 days later my car is acting really funny:

After I drive for awhile when I stop my temp gauge on my dash starts going up like fast I can watch it rise and as soon as I start driving it goes back to normal and drops very quickly. I’ve seen it get to ¾. but before it rarely went over half way, I know the oil level is good but when I took off the oil cap to look in smoke was coming out of the valve cover. My radiator fan goes on when I shut the car off but not in park, but I havnt let it get to hot,

I have a new waterpump radiator and timing belt, I cant figure out the problem, me and the mechanic got into it because he tried to rip me off so Im thinking he maybe came by my house and put something in my gas or oil? Maybe im just paranoid. Im gonna get an oil change and filter change tonight. And have them look at. But even if one fan was out this couldn’t cause that much over heating can it? I only see the passenger side fan go on.

Thanks.!!!

shops charge 1.5 hours per side for the rotors being replaced. if they charge you more than 3.5 hours for just rotors and pads-walk away. maybe the extra .5 hours is for things like checking the rest of the car. in my shop that is done anyways at no charge

So I know it's been a while and this is an older thread....I hope some are still subscibed to it?

But I appear to have this issue on our good freinds 97 Accord as well, Can we be clear on the fact that if the VTECH seals go bad? is it required to replace the valve as well or is the seal failure a faily common issue by its self and the valve is not affected in the failure of the seals/gaskets?

also what tools should cover the repair beings that I can not bring the vehicle to my house to do them and it will be like a service/road side call!...

Thank you for any help.

if the mech took off the intake or loosened it there is a water passage in the intake gasket near the vtec solenoid that could have been damaged. 400 was way too much sorry for that. the temp is going up because you are low on coolant or your fans are not working. check your coolant level. fix your leak. he may have just rtv'ed you vtec gasket so it could still be leaking.
