Default painting a AEM SRI?

I didn't know where to post this so I posted here in the Accord forum because the intake is going on a Accord. But has anyone ever painted an AEM SRI or CAI with high-temp black paint. Would this be a bad idea? I get a blue AEM SRI and want to paint it with high-temp black paint to give the engine bay a little bit more a stock look, but just want to make sure its not a bad idea?

vr has done it. he said it actually helped keep his air cooler so yeah it definitely wont hurt you. all you should have to do is sand it down and spray it

I think what they are trying to say that the paint helps keep the incoming air from getting hot because of the extra layer of paint.

My guess would be that there wouldn't be enough of a temperature change to really make much difference.

no...the paint itself is made to withstand heat...that's why some manufacturers make black mufflers...etc etc...
paint doesnt make air colder it prevents the intake from absorbing some heat...

it doesn't make too much of a difference though...but it helps some

um.. i REALLY doubt this theory.. waste of 4 dollars on a can of paint.. maybe the exaust is made from a differant **** so it absorbs less heat.. i doubt that just because its black it helps..

I'm not painting the intake for a cooler intake air. I want to paint the intake so it looks closer to stock and not a bright blue eye sore when you open the hood.

Bought my intake off of ebay, sanded it down, and painted it with regular flat black paint. Works like a charm.

Well I will tell you this, when my intake was regular metal after running the car for a while i couldn't even touch it but after I painted the tube I could actually hold my hand on the pipe...so as far as hot versus cold its true.

If you have the paint sitting around why not do it...IMO it makes for a cleaner engine bay NTM IS functional .

Just sand down the tube and paint the tube let it dry then reinstall. Here is some pictures of mine:

IMO it makes the engine bay look really clean and the next thing I am painting will be my tower brace. Its all about personal styel and flavor.

edit: sorry for the dirty engine bay
