Default Wee! Accords are fun!

SO. Im 17 and i had a buick. I sold it and bought an automatic 91 Accord LX for $1000. When I went to have it checked, it was fine.

3 days later. BAM. Transmission locked up and I had to have it replaced = $800

The three days i had it, it wouldnt downshift... at all. I thought that putting the new transmission in it would help/fix that problem so I didnt mind buying a new one.

Well. It STILL WONT DOWNSHIFT. The fluid levels are fine. The Sport Shift indicator light blinks like mad when I have SS enabled, and it blinks faster when it isnt enabled.

Anyone have a spare 4th gen auto Transmission computer?

I figure thats whats wrong with it.

btw Ive already replaced the main ECU for the car which cost me another $75 from a junkyard. nothing really improved except how fast it accelerated. but when you start off in third. NOTHING goes fast.

also, ive reset my fuses (backup) and when i try to go, it will TRY to downshift, stutter, and go back into third... I dont know what the problem is.. so ive narrowed it down to the computer.

any help would be appreciated.

meh im hoping this will be an easy fix considering i dont make very much money ($5.75 an hour plus school)

Use a paper clip or something, to connect the two wires together. Then you turn the key on, and watch for D light blinks. Long blinks are for ten spot, short blinks are for one spot. Example: Three long blinks, then two short blinks = code 32. Get it? If the computer is bad, the D light will stay lit continuously, even when in Park, or any other gear. Didn't you say you have one of the sport shift models? I've heard something about speed sensors causing problems with those.

if ur car wont downshift, sounds like u might have a loose kickdown cable or no kickdowncable at all after having the new tranny installed.

tranny should still downshift when coming to a stop. If it is not doing that the car should stall. is the TQ converter functional?

okay, i am completely new to cars. im guessing by TQ converter you mean torque converter, if so, then yes. im gonna go see what code comes up. then ill get back to you all

Result:

I connected the jumper wire, the only thing that happened was my check engine light came on and it didnt go off until i disconected the wires. so far, no luck

does the car downshift at all or is it just not downshifting when you stomp on the gas?

cause if it is not downsfiting by itself when you are slowing down your car will stall....
