Default Oil Pan Gasket

I got my car booked in next week to have the oil pan gasket replaced, and I was just curious how much a job like that usually costs? I forgot to ask. I contemplated doing it myself, but there's little to no room for maneuvering around even with the car on ramps. I don't have an impact gun either to remove the stubborn exhaust bolts. Thanks

Apparently 125 ppl don't know or don't give a **** to answer my question. Yet someone asks about no name intakes and made in china coilovers and ppl swarm on that **** like fanboys on a new fatlace t-shirt. No solidarity at all, just ppl looking to school eachother on knowledge and brag about engine swaps. Delete this thread mod.

Ive done the job a few times on my integra and it isnt really that bad. I did have to take off a couple other parts to get the oil pan off but it really wasnt hard or complicated. The exhaust bolts were stubborn for me, but it was cake with a breaker bar and an extension. In my case the gasket actually melted on the pan and was a pain to remove but after a little of work with a wire wheel, it was clean. The trickiest part for me was torqueing the bolts but there are diagrams of that everywhere. BTW i also replaced the gaskets for the exhaust piece i unbolted, i dont think you have to replace them but i did for piece of mind. If you go to a shop i would expect to pay for the gasket and a few hours of labor(around $80 an hour), unless you know somebody. I vote do it youself, even if it does take you a little longer, itll be worth it.

I agree with Wyatt87. Do it yourself. I just did one on an engine swap. Just make sure you clean the previous gasket material well before you put the new one on. I also replaced the exhaust gasket which cost me $3.

Well considering the fact that you are asking people what a dealership/shop would charge to change an oil pan gasket might be the reason that your not getting many takers. I think 125 people came in just to see what the thread was about. Your topic is pretty vague. Not to mention it's only been posted for 5 hours. Some people are just getting home from work!

Tip for ya, First thing tomorrow morning you should call the shop the you have the appointment with and ask them how much it's going to cost?

I just did the gasket in my car in about 2 hours and it cost me $70 for the gasket and exhaust kit. So you have approx 2 hours. Then you have to add the parts into the garages labour costs. I can't answer how much it will be exactly because I have no idea what your garage is charging for labour or what parts you have or don't.

Your going to need an exhaust gasket, spring kit and oil pan gasket at the very least.

Labour;
$70/hr = $140
+shop supplies = $15

Parts
Oil pan gasket = $20-25
Exhaust gasket & Spring kit = $40-60

I would guess $180-$240 it really all depends on what the labour rates are and whether or not they use quality parts or cheap aftermarket brands.

I'm not doing it myself, I'd just end up messing something up or breaking a bolt with my luck. I'm not a master mechanic like you guys with all the equipment at my disposal lol. Kinda went off there, should of been more patient. My mechanic is a good guy and former Honda tech that gives me a good rate and I pay him under the table, so it won't be expensive as other shops. I already got an oem honda gasket. Thanks for answering that ghost, just wanted a general idea of the cost.
