Need mod tips for my new 2006 Accord
Hey I'm new to this forum and to car modding in general and I'm no 15-16 year old kid looking for an 11 second car, so no flames please. Anyways...
I recently bought a 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 4 Dr and am looking for some good websites for online shopping. This is going to be a daily driver. I'm looking for the clean, sleeper look - no decals, neons, or flashy mods.
I'm looking to purchase a lip kit (not a body kit), good quality lowering springs, and cold air intake. Honda sells sport spring sets for $450. I also heard that Injen intakes give you higher hp gains than AEM.
Also, since I am pretty much a novice, what other stock parts should I upgrade to achieve more performance? Should I buy anything else in conjunction with the cold air intake to have more horsepower gain? My budget is approximately $1500-$2000.

What you're going to run into almost right away is a lack of listings for the 2006 model Honda's. I'd guess that there hasn't been much time for the aftermarket to ramp up production for bolt-ons and find out what fits from earlier 2004/2005 chassis.
There's going to be all manner of suggestions come your way as to who has had success, and who hasn't, so sit tight and hold on.
I'd suggest a "GOOGLE!" search using things like:
[Lip Honda Accord 2006] or
[exhaust Honda Accord 2006]
That's how I found what I needed.
ps: Nice car (by the way). I'm jumping in the streets happy over the tail lamp design change.

Sup, I use to live in Marietta to, but now I moved to Stockbridge . Good to see more ATL guys in the forum, but anyway p-adams is right,Its going to be hard to find stuff for a 2006. It took a long time to find stuff for my car when my year came out. I have a 03 ex cpe, and today I can only find certain stuff for my car. For example, Ive been looking for a billet upper grille and they don't make it for the 2dr. So you just have to be patient. If I where you I would do google searches with your year in the search and see what comes up. That's what I did....

I just bought a 06 EX-V6 w/ Navi myself and it is great. So far Honda's lip kits have looked the best on the 7th gens but there is not one out by Honda yet for the 06. The stock spoiler is pretty clean looking and I will be purchasing that. I also like the OEM foglights. But I have yet to see lip kits for the 06 and I'm not too worried about unless Honda makes one. As always for the 7th gen Inspire headlights will look really nice and give the ability to run HID correctly. Good luck.

I've been spending some time over at the American Honda Web site comparing both the '05 and the '06 Coupes.
I'd like some independent confirmation, but it looks like the Front Bumper Cover profiles and the headlights are carryovers. Of course, the rear Bumper Cover, sheet metal and tail lamp configurations are all new for 2006.
I was hopeing to compare 2005 to 2006 Bumper Support Part Numbers, but the '06 Parts Cat hasn't been updated.
Here's a link to an internet Vendor (Racerwheel) that shows product (body kit) who's range of coverage is 2003 thru 2006. I'd call and ask for confirmation, If they say yes, then you can install body kit pieces for a 05 to your 06....

Re: Need mod tips for my new 2006 Accord (P_Adams)
the kit seems all good and well, but does the price seem a little cheap for a lip kit or is it just me? how much should i expect to pay for having the parts painted? there didn't seem to be a picture for each of the body kits. i'm not really sure what the arron style and mugen style kits look like on a 4 door accord.
again, thanks for the responses guys. i'm hoping to get my hands on a lip kit to install myself.
here's an example of the type of style i'm looking to get - sleek and refined... on a 4 door model of course.

I was only using that as an example to forward the theory that aftermarket body pieces advertised for a 2005 Accord will fit a 2006.
Go to any body kit supplyer and rummage thru the sites for something that looks interesting that fits a '05, it should fit your '06

That Accord has the Honda lip kit. I am hoping they will issue one for the 06 sedan because the OEM stuff is always better quality.

The 2006 & 2005 Accord fronts & sides look the same to me. The Kaminari front spoiler & side skirt would probably fit the 2006 as well: http://www.customautotrim.com/...3.htm
There are a couple of pics for the front end on RacerWheel. See for yourself: http://www.racerwheel.com/exte....html

Re: Need mod tips for my new 2006 Accord (PhongT12)
i've already checked on the front and rear bumpers and they are completely different from 2005 and 2006. the 2006 front bumper protrudes a little bit, resembling an acura, and the rear bumper angles upward like a camry. the 2005 front bumper is missing the slot where the fog lights are supposed to be and the rear bumper is completely straight all around. the only thing i can buy from 2005 is the side skirts.
i was also interested in knowing whether the tire and rim widths (not size) have changed. i was looking into buy a 5 spoke 17" honda-made rim for my 2006.

The 17" wheels on the 6 speed coupe had always been 7" but the standard EX 17s on the 2006 are 6.5" width.

Make sure you are comparing the same trim level. For example, the fronts of the EX V6 for 2005 & 2006 both have fog lights or places for fog lights. To be sure, ask your Honda dealer. Let me know what they say.

Does anyone know what the offset is on the 2005 Accord Sedan's 16" wheels? I'm looking to replace them with much better looking 18 inchers.

Re: Need mod tips for my new 2006 Accord (PhongT12)
First of all, im assuming you don't really care about voiding your warranty. If thats the case...I have an Injen short ram on 04 accord 5spd Lx. If you have noticed, when you start the car, its amazingly quiet. It stays that way with the intake...its only when you begin stepping on the gas pedal that you can actually hear amazing sounds coming under the hood. Also, if you do choose to get an intake, it will primarily contribute to teh car sounding more performance oriented, however, it will not give you the horsepower gain that can be felt and if you do feel it, its purely psychological. As for the suspension mods. I'm not too educated on that but i do know that accords have a pretty great suspension as it is. If you feel like its lacking in cornering ability, try buying 17inch rims ( unless it already comes with them) and some really hardwalled tires to give you more rigidity in the corners. Enjoy the upgrading.

Re: Need mod tips for my new 2006 Accord (PhongT12)
Phong, in terms of quality springs, I'd stay with either Eibachs or H&R/Neuspeeds. I'm running H&R Sport on my '95 wagon (along w/ Tokico blues) and it was a great improvement over stock. But if you like to experiment with different heights then if I were you I'd wait until they release coilovers (i.e. Tein, Omnipower)

i never knew honda made factory 17" accord rims... are you sure about this? how can u get a price quote with them in chrome? u think adding a exhaust trim and intake is a good idea for a 05 accord lx 4cyl?

Man, you people doubt everything. Please just go to hondacars.com and look through all the features and options. YES it comes with 17" wheels, mine has them right now.

The V6 6-speed has always had 17" rims.
All 2006 EX V6 Accords have 17" rims.
A price quote w/ chrome?? Step 1: Ask the parts department how much the rims are. Step 2: Call some shop and ask how much they charge to chrome rims. Step 3: Add step 1 and step 2 together. (Why you want chrome, I'm not even going to ask.)
Exhaust trim? What do you mean? Tips? Mufflers? Cat-backs? Header+cat-backs? Hell, if it's a good idea or not depends on what you want out of your car. To be honest, asking us "u think adding a exhaust trim and intake is a good idea" is silly in itself.

whats wrong with chrome rims =[? would u recommend just regular alloy rims? what would u do and why? sorry, im kinda new to this stuff so any help would be appreciated. i just dont like the fact that my exhaust looks like a peace of black metal... i wanna make that look clean without the loud noise of a muffler, so i guess what i want is the tip for the exhaust (thought it was called an exhaust trim). and whats a header/cat back? im assuming tips are just the ending u screw on to the exhaust to give it a nicer look? thats y i want intake, so i can get the increased sound that i want, without getting to loud/crazy.
