Welcome to H-T.

Before you post a question, make sure you search for the answer first. Chances are it's already been covered. In this case, a timing belt thread is very common. You should be able to find a bunch of results on this in the Accord forum alone.

But I'll try helping you out a bit as well.

I've done a couple timing belt changes on 94 EX's, but not on a 2000 Accord. Is you motor a V6 or I4? If it an I4, then this link may help you to get an idea of whats involved.

Hondaq 2.2L Cam Timing & Balance Belt Removal and Replacement

Now keep in mind that the write-up may not be exactly as your motor, but it will give you a good idea.

First thing you should buy is a Helm Inc. manual for your car. It's an excellent book and well worth the money, especially if your doing a timing belt for your first time. It has great descriptions and pictures on pretty much anything your going to do to the car. The book will pay for itself by saving you money on labor fees a shop would charge you.

I bought a Honda and Acura Harmonic Damper Pulley Holding Tool from TheToolWarehouse.net when I did my first timing belt job. It worked great. There are a couple other tools like this, I believe one is from Moroso, but this is the one I used.

Other than some a basic tool set, jack and jack stands you should be good to tackle the timing belt. I can't think of anything else atleast.

Do some searching through recent and archived threads on here for some other peoples experiences doing timing belts. Learn from their mistakes. Also, read through that link I posted, it'll give you a good idea. I also strongly recommend you buying a Helm Inc manual. I was really pleased with it, nothing else compares and it really easies the mind knowing you have a factory service manual at hand while doing a job like this. Being able to constantly double check everything your doing without have to go online and ask questions really speeds things up.

If you have any further questions, just ask. I'm sure myself or someone else will be able to help you out.

edit:
I forgot to answer your second question.

I would go ahead and replace the fuel filter, yes. I don't know the exact procedure for your year but the Helm Inc manual would show you how. I know on the 94-97 Accords, it was in a difficult place. The use of an extension and a crow foot get the job done nicely. I hope that they moved the fuel filter to an easier location in the later year Accords.

Also, a 1/2" drive or larger breaker bar and maybe even a pipe on the end to help break the crank bolt free.

You'll find once that bolt is loosened, the rest of the job is downhill.

What I did was, I used a 1/2" drive 19mm socket on the end of a 1/2" drive 20' long extension connected to a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a 5" pipe slid over the breaker bar. With the special tool in the socket and a 1/2" drive rachet connected to it, I slid another pipe over the rachet and wedged that against the ground. One person held the breaker bar in position and the other pulled as hard as they could on the bar to loosen the crank bolt. I hope all that made sence, but it has worked for me a couple times now.

No, not unless it's causing a problem. It should be good for the life of the car.

the fuel filters on the 6th gen accords are not like the ones in the integras and such (canister type).

instead, they are merely a mesh screen located in the fuel pump assy. , which is located in-tank.

go ahead and do EVERYTHING!

upper and lower rad. hoses.

completed igntion tune-up (dist. cap, rotor, spark plugs, plug wires)

all fluids replaced

pcv valve

new thermostat

check condition of cv boots, p.s. rack boots, tie rod ends, everything....
