not too sure about the 4th gens (i had a 5th gen and currently have a 6th). on the 5th gen a tow company helped take it off by ripping it while they tried to illegally tow my baby.

i think the clips to remove the front bumper are behind the wheel-well if i remember correctly.

ive never pulled my 91 bumper cover, but i've had off many other vehicles. usually, there are some screws or plastic 'poppers' underneath the bumper, under the front of the car. then there are some that attach the sides of the cover to the inner wheel well covers. then there will probably be a couple on each side that hold the top lip of the side of the cover to the bottom the the metal fender (like on the front fender between the corner light and the wheel well). just from looking at my 91, i dont think there is anything holding the top of the cover to the car... like under the headlights and stuff. but, if you get the bottom and sides loose, and it still wont come off, you might look under the grill. i seriously doubt you need to remove headlights to get cover off. could be wrong though.

check hondapartsnow.com for a bumper cover for your car, and it should show you an exploded view of the bumper cover and stuff up front.

first are the screws in the wheel wells near the fender seam. then any bolts or clips still hanging on for dear life to the splash shield (if applicable..)

the key is getting the in-bumper turn signal lights out. the bumper mount bolts are behind those. there should be one Philips screw nearest the grill opening on each. you've got to go in at an angle to get them. then the lights sort of "hing" out.

the other trick is finding the two long studs that protrude into the engine bay. you should be able to see them just above the frame rail behind either headlight. it's a 12mm nut IIRC holding it in.

at this point you should be able slide it off and make your repairs/assessment... whatever you need to do.

thanks for the replys, need cb7 specific. i have taken many bumbers off lots other cars, this one is stumping me. to get front bumper off it lookes like headlights out b/c there is bumper screws under headlights. i took two bolts out to take headlights out but what looks like third bolt will hit the bumper support. trying to take bumper support off running into problems as well. really starting to make me feel like a idiot and i know thats not the case. anyone got a link to a cb7 helms in pdf format? and here is some pics if someone could point out bolts that need to be removed

Yes, to take the bumper cover off of the bumper you have to have the headlights out.

But to get the headlights out you have to take off the bumper assembly.

What I did for my 5th gen, should be similar to yours:

1) Remove the screw/bolt directly behind the corner light where bumper/fender meet
2) Remove bolt from fender well lining and bumper
3) Remove 3 plastic clips underneath bumper cover (connects to splash shield under motor)
4) Remove front grille (5 screws)
5) Remove turn signals (1 screw)
6) Remove corner lights (1 screw)
7) Use 12 or 14mm (forgot) and remove the 2 bolts (4 total) visible through the turn signal socket (these hold a big metal bracket that support the front bumper)
8) Gently pull the bumper away from the car

That should get it off for a 5th gen and I'd imagine a 4th gen too.

I got this from one manual. This looks to be a '90-'91 though. Either way, it doesn't match up to the photos posted earlier.

1990-1991 Accord front bumper removal

But...

I have directions for installing the OE foglights for a '92-'93 Accord and it has directions for removing the front bumper within those directions.

Here's what it says.

NOTE: On cars equipped with cruise control; remove the bolt securing the cruise control accumulator, and lift it out of the way.

- Remove the two bumper mounting nuts located inside the engine compartment, as shown.

- Remove the four 8 mm mounting bolts located inside the mounting holes of the combination lamps.

- Remove the two expansion clips located on the bottom of the bumper.

- Remove the bumper by sliding it forward.

yes i got the two bolts behind turn sig. from that illstr. looks like two bumper nuts i need to remove from engine compartment. makes sense cause after removing two nuts behind turn sig. bump support loosened but still felt like something little higher was still holding it.
