Default Need help 96 accord Drums/Shoes install

So my G/F's Accord needed some new shoes & a buddy of mine & I who had past experience with drums changed the shoes. This was the first time I ever attempted to work on drum brakes. So it was a real pain in the *** but we eventually got everything on.
Now there is two problems.

1) The driver side rear, was adjusting all the way back but still had a lot of drag on it & could barely spin the 1st few times. We couldn't figure out why & even took the whole thing apart to see if something was wrong but could not pinpoint it. The Passenger rear which actually had the more worn shoes, went smoothly & I adjusted it to a slight drag. Any ideas why the driver side is so tight?

2) The ebrake i'm assuming needs to be adjusted but I don't why & not sure how to do it yet.
So now when you pull it, it goes up all the way up & doesn't really work.
Why would the E-brake have to be adjusted? From how the setup was, I mean we basically just took off the old shoes & put the new ones on. I don't see what could have gotten screwed up. We shouldn't have had to bleed the back after just changing the shoes right?
Any idea's info would be appreciated.
Thanks
