Default Naval Jelly safe to remove rust?

I have a tiny streak of rust on my car. I'm wondering if it is safe to use the naval jelly to remove the rust without damaging the paintwork near the rust. I have seen naval jelly in action and it looks pretty caustic and I am afraid it will eat the paintwork too. Thanks for any feedback.

I don't think it will affect your paint. However, if I were you I would try it on the paint in a place noone can see just to check.
