Mushy brake petal
So as I was driving today, I noticed that my brakes got noticably mushy. Reguardless of the amount of pressure you apply, the longer my foot was on the brakes, the further and more mushier (is that a word?) the brake petal becomes. But if you release it, the mushiness will "reset" and feel normal until you apply another push on the petal. Brakes were just a little bit less functional but would still work fine. The brake fluid looks full and clean. I have changed the front brake pads about 4 months ago and haven't touched the brakes since. I would of took it to Les Schwab and had em take a look at them but by the time I came back from work, it was already closed. Anybody have a clue on how I can go about doing this myself or is this something that I should have a professional take a look at?
EDIT*
I appreciate all help, and I already looked at the faqs.

it would sound like you have air in the system, or glazed pads and rotors.
If the brake pads and rotors got overheated, then they glaze over and dont bite into the rotors as well as they should, leaving you with less stopping power, and more pedal travel.
Also, if your car has drum brakes in the rear, sometimes when the wheel cylinders start to leak, they take in air as well and that is a possibility as to how you can get air into a brake system without you personally doing something to it.
