Mobil 1 Extended Performance is a oil that last up to 15k.....is it really safe to not do a oil change untill 15k has hit?.....im afaird.....has anyone tried this oil yet?....i have a 99accord v6 coupe

well i wasn't being cheap...i was just lazy...hehehe....but are u suggesting me to use moible one instead of Mobil 1 Extended Performance because u experience Mobil 1 Extended Performance?...thanks

yah go with the synthetic if u can afford it
a better and cooler running engine will save u money in the long run. royal purple synthetic is dyno tested to gain horsepower, but i think mobil-1 synthetic is just as good

Years ago when Mobil 1 Synthetic was introduced, I believe they advertised it to last at least 15K, and I used it in a VW GTI, and then a 89 Honda CRX Si that way without any problems; I changed the oil filter every 7,500 miles and topped off the oil when I did that. (They later stopped advertising Mobil 1 to last 15K though.)

After that with a 95 Accord EX, I first did Mobil 1 oil changes every 10-12K, but later switched to Mobil 1 oil changes at every 7,500 miles now; the car has over 228,000 miles now and still runs great. (I believe it protected my engine.)

Now with the introduction of 'Extended Performance Synthetic', they are advertising this oil to last 15k. It's suppose to be even better, they even guarantee it.

It's up to you, I know most people change Mobil 1 more frequently than that though.

yea i think im going to try 15k mobil 1 extended performance but just to be safe i'll change it every 10k....wish me luck....thanks for the info....if any more suggestions please add..thanks

Make sure you check the condition of the oil at 5k, so you don't run into any trouble. If it stays clean, check it once in a while afterwards. You wouldn't want to just leave the oil in for 10k without knowing if it will actually last that long.

Yeah, I used Mobil1 in my accord for as long as I had it. Never had a problem though I can't honestly tell the difference between synthetic and regular oil though it may have lasted a few thousand miles longer.

sorry but syn. oil do not make any significant gain in cooling property, it does have higher thermo breakdown protection but that's a whole other story.

i will not put royal purple in my motor.

unless you have alot of horsepower under the hood, a full syn. oil will not do much.

some people like to use syn. oil and run it longer but i would change mine at 3k, i have too much stop and good and vtec in my ticker.

I swear by valvoline's product, syn.blend would be a perfect daily formula for you

I run mobil1 syn (not the extended type) in every engine I own, Jeep/Honda/Ford and 3 lawn mowers.

The way to get over the cost of Syn is to drop 4.44 every other time you go to wal-mart on another qt. I've got a basement full of the stuff prolly around 20qt of stock right now. (changed oil in the jeep this past weekend 10W for the jeep) What's another 5 bucks 3x a week? Or another 5 bucks tacked onto a 230buck grocery trip?

I've even been hard up and used it in mix for the weedeater before, used it one time as bar lub in the chain saw.
