I have a 90 honda accord lx 4 door auto. Anyway when I come to a stop at a light and hold the brake if I keep constant pressure the brake will release and the car will move forward unless I push the pedal down more. My concern is that I either have a leak in the brake system somewhere or else the master cylinder is shot. Any ideas? The car is very old now and has seen lots of action has alomost 200k miles.

Sound like you either have a leak in the brake system somewhere or else the master cylinder is shot. But you knew that allready.

If the level in the master cylinder has not dropped ... the master is bad. If the master is very low or empty ... look for a leak.

dont guess it, test it.

key not in your car, pump the brake panel about 10 times and dont release it, turn the key and start the car, see if the brake panel slowly drift down toward the floor(about 1inch drops)

Couldn't agree with you more! I made that mistake (rebuilt aftermarket) when I did mine.... MC didn't release all the way, brakes drag, all 4 wheels locked up after several miles...talk about a major PITA!

if you are gonna buy a new MC

try to find the official part number of the OEM part and try http://www.hparts.com (or request for a quote). My 5th gen one is listed as $75 for a new oem MC, too bad I paid $100 for it somewhere else before I checked the price there.

if you do plan to replace it, and you dont have 4 wheel disc/ABS, u can consider getting the larger ABS MC.

i have a problem of time to time my brakes feel liek grabing at times it dont ...
what i did so far...new MC, bleeded the system 3 times or so, brake pads good,rotors good, and was told calipers are good..what can it be Booster ?

1995 accord with h22a..and have a new accord M C should i buy prelude or an ex MC ?

they are the same size, 1". the accord EX one is probably cheaper.

do a booster check, it might be the seal on the wheel cylinders, it could be a external leak as well as an internal leaks

with a larger MC piston surface you are only getting less distance down at the wheel cylinder, you dont just add a bigger mc with bigger piston to increase braking power
