The maintenance light is purely a "mileage since reset" indicator, you likely didn't have to change your oil. I hope it was close to that time anyways

They have particular things that they check and change at certian intervals.</TD></TR></TABLE>Yes, it's called scheduled maintenance, and the things that need to be done are clearly listed in the owner's manual. Most of it is easily doable by yourself.
As far as turning off the maintenance required light, that also is in the owner's manual. You push in on the odometer reset button and, while holding it in, put the key in the ignition and turn it to "on" (the step before the starting the car). Wait ~ 10 seconds (all the while holding the button in) and the light will be reset.
