Looking at a 1998 Accord EX V6 with 1HG- VIN#
The car has 120,000 miles on it, should I be afraid? I've heard of transmission and alternator problems with the Gen 6 V6 Accords... is it exclusively the US-built cars or is it all of them?
I've done a board search but didn't come up with anything... any insight would be greatly appreciated. The car is $5,000 for a fully loaded EX V6.

How many miles are on your V6? And the VIN starts with 1HG? Would you buy the same car again, and is the transmission continuing to deteriorate or do regular fluid changes keep it at bay? Are you the first owner?
Sorry about all the questions, I just LOVE that car and everyone knows Hondas sell quickly so I have to act fast. I also have to ask as many questions at a time as possible because I'm in my "probation period" - If i get it this will be my first Honda so I've never joined a Honda forum.
Thanks for the input.
**EDIT** One more question - this is a 3-owner vehicle. The current owner has only owned it for a year and a half - bought it at 105K. Does that influence the concerns at all? Is there any maintenance that should be done right off the bat?

ill check the vin during lunch.
but yes i would definately buy the car again! its a solid car. tranny fluid has been replaced 10k miles already and drives better. still has that 1st to 2nd kick tho. gets annoying somtimes.
tell the seller about the tranny issues on the 98s maybe they will give you a better deal.
im the 2nd owner. only maintence i would do after buying it would be oil change full syntetic, coolant flush, tranny flush, new wires, new plugs, injector cleaner, and check the tires

Would anybody recommend an aftermarket warranty company? I'm in New York, I know that makes a difference as far as what warranties are available. I've heard bad things about EVERY warranty company, but it seems like I've heard fewer bad things about Warranty Direct.
