Been there man. The cylinder head intake ports are way too small to build any HP. Full bolt-ons and a tune only yields around 190-210 HP to the wheels.
We learned to swap out that J30A1 with a J32A2 or J35A3/A4 along with the weak *** 4 speed auto. It is not all plug and play, some custom stuff needs to be done. But you yield around 260 to 300HP to the wheels, depending on your tuning solution.
