Default Install Factory Tweeters in a 96 Accord LX????

I've found the location in the dash for the factory tweeters, but when I pop the little grill out of the dash I see no wiring. Does anyone know if the LX Accords have the wiring for the factory tweeters? Wondering if it's down further in the dash.

Just curious if someone had installed them in their LX.

Thanks!

Mine doesn't have anything like that. I just went with some MB Quart coax in the doors and they sound great.

No, the tweeters only came with the upgraded sound system in the EX. They were just lazy and used the same dash in all models

Yeah,...poop, that's what I figured.

It would probably be a nightmare to run the wiring down through those ports in the dash down to the receiver???? I just like the factory look and location...may end up going aftermarket afterall.

Thanks guys!

I think you're better off putting the tweeters in the doors. I can barely hear any sound coming out of the stock tweeters.

i have an ex and i got new component speakers. Instead of trying to rewire up into the dash and remove the old ones i just drilled holes in the doorpanels and put them in there. Sounds great now. Ill se if i can find some pics and post them later.

haha, this is funny, does anyone have an ex that has actually seen the tweeters in the dash, i have an ex with upgraded sound (supposedly) and i have taken my dash out to replace the heater core, there were no tweeters to be seen.

i just want to know that they are suppose to be there and are not, there isnt even any wiring

I have an LX mysef but am a professional installer and have never seen them before.

I would just go with some good coax speakers that way it is all hidden and you don't have to cut holes in your door panel. Trust me they sound better down there.

yea if i could do it again i would have goten the coaxials because it was such a headache to do the install(Putting crossovers in the door and wiring them up, etc) And i don't know that components sound that much better

I do have the 95 EX, I took out my stock tweeters and replaced them with MB Quartz music comp. tweeters along with MB Quartz mid drivers in the doors ! they sound pretty good ! It's wonders what you can work with a little ole dremel tool and the desire to do something !

They will sound a LOT better up high in the door or on the dash than with a coax setup. Think about it, the soundstage is at your feet, or closer to your ears. It's really not difficult to cut the holes and they look pretty good on the doors.

That is why you buy coax speakers where the tweeters are able to be angled.

This is the way my MB Quarts are and it works out far better than any component setup I have done in an Accord. BTW my MB Quarts also have the music comp crossover so they are basically a component setup without the separate tweeter.

the factory tweeters are located in the dash under the little speaker covers above the side vents, they are on the honda parts list, are these the ones yall are talking about?

I have Mb Quart componets in mine, I had 5 1/4 mid drivers i installed in the door, in the stock location with a lil modification, then I installed the mb quart tweeters in the stock tweeter grill, you just have to use a dremel tool or something to kind of shave down the lil post for the screws on both side for the tweeters to fit. but i did it, worked pretty good and sounds pretty good as well, I look bone stock until you turn the music on and you got mb quart blaring at you....
