Re: External leak of the distributor
I have a leak which appear below my car. When I changed out the cap about 3 months ago, I did not see any massive amount of oil in the distributor. However the leak seems to be outside and down toward the tranny. I check oil every day and it's not going down.
Do you guys think replacing the o-ring is sufficient, or do I need to replace the inner seal too? I have bought both parts. I am afraid to open the distributor and find out the bearing is going and need a new distributor. I need the car to go to work every day so ordering a new distributor would make my car down for a few days. The dealer want $405 for a new distributor. Any where I can buy the distributor cheaper?
Thanks.

No and nether does Honda. It is a NOK HTC seal part No. BH3888E. Call your local parts stores or machine/bearing supply shops. There is an idiot on ebay that just jacked his prices up $30/seal. $50 is a rip off when you may be able to get these from some machine/bearing supply shops.
Edit* Found a new seller selling at 1/4 the price. NOK BH3888E for $15.00 shipped to USA.

Why would you post your DIY in a thread that is already a DIY?
Your pictures are terrible in your DIY and you don't even know where to get the inner seal.
Troll?

As for the pictures... this is not a photo enthusiast forum, who cares!! They are good enough for all intended purposes.
And finally, no I dont know where to get the seal because the local place where I got mine no longer carries them. By the way, this thread is called

Why would I post my DIY in a DIY? Well obviously you looked at it, which were my intentions, for anyone who wanted more info on the subject. It was clearly stated as a link to my DIY, and you clicked anyway. My thread has ALL the steps including pictures. Not only does it show how to replace the inner seal but also the other seals in the dizzy and the symptoms of each going bad. (No offense against this thread)

Now go find something constructive to do with your time

If the oil is on the outside of the distributor. It would more than likely be the outer shaft O-ring that seals the distributor to the head.

Re: How-To: Replace Internal Seal of Distributor (Internal Oil Leak)
Has anyone done this seal replacement on a 2000 accord (EX) with the 2.3l Ulev engine?
Im just worried about part interchangeability: (W0133-1640599)
http://shop.autopartsfair.com/store/...4963365%2B1631
I found this website that lists the replacement distributor seal for 1984-2002 accords...However it has a note there saying "# 2000: DX; All Engines;"
Now I looked at the distributor part number for the DX model (F23A5) as well as the EX model (F23A4) to see if they are the same but some of the part numbers are the same and some are not...... so does anyone know if the distributors are the same on the F23A5 Vs the F23A4?
Or can anyone tell me if the distributor seal in the link above (for the older accords) will work in mine (2000 EX, 2.3 ulev (F23A4)

Sorry but to me it seemed like you were just trying to one-up this guys DIY. When yours, in my opinion, really isn't any better.
Your probably correct in saying I wouldn't talk to you like this in person. That's becuase hopefully, if we were hanging out in a group, you wouldn't try and one-up someone for no reason.

Re: (deklao)
You have any info or instructions on how to press it out and in? What kind of press would you need? Could you just buy one of those manual press or a hydraulic one is needed?
Thanks.

Re: How-To: Replace Internal Seal of Distributor (TouringAccord)
Sorry I missed this new thread and kept posting on the old one...
Anyway, I used the previous write up and replaced the O-ring. The pictures really helped! Thank you.
However, I could not remove the distributor because the electrical connectors did not want to detach. I did press the tab and pulled hard on the casing... no luck. I stopped short of using vice-grip to pull them apart. Any suggestions?

Re: How-To: Replace Internal Seal of Distributor (Internal Oil Leak)
Hopefully, this thread is still "live" because in as much as there is great information here, I'm not seeing any info on the V6 distributor. I've searched high and low for the parts listed in this thread and every time I enter v6 in the "car type", I get nothing. I could very well be misunderstanding the thread, so my apologies. Still, if anyone can help find the "internal seal" for the 1995 Honda Accord V6 (2.7L) distributor (websites, links, other threads), I can possibly drive my car places without having to park miles away so i don't mess up people's driveways :[
I know i can buy a whole new one, but if i can get my hands on this seal...

Re: How-To: Replace Internal Seal of Distributor (Internal Oil Leak)
this is awesome, i just came across this thread because i bought another Honda. (1994 LX Accord with a Ex engine) I started to check under the car casue after all, buying a new car to me i would want to get familiar with whats going on with the new ride.
Both outer cv joint boots are ripped, steering rack boots ripped, leak comming from the driver side of the car(PS pressure line is leaking) and a oil leak comming from the rear of the transmission. This had me puzzled, i know its not tranny fluid because its brown in color, and i didnt think its comming from the tranny seal because its not leaking from where the tranny and engine bolt together.
This leaves me to believe its leaking from the dizzy o ring, that and because when i changed my lower coolant hose i took the dizzy off and saw a bunch of oil on the tranny housing,
good info guys! keep up the good work
