Default Honda Accord v6

Hey there guys, I've been looking for a Honda Accord 6th gen coupe, love the way it looks. Anyways, reading around about it, I find that the v6 automatics transmissions tend to fail. (Also, I don't know how to drive manual and get distracted too easily for it) unfortunately, the majority of Accords I find are v6's and they range from about 99k to 140k miles. Do you guys think it'd be safe to say these would be less likely to fail now that the mileage is around 100k?
Thanks,
Jennifer

Can anyone tell me when they're most likely to go out?

I'd stay with the 01 or 02 versions (I am). They were manufactured after the problem was addressed.

As an alternative, I'd also look at all year 6th gen's with moderate mileage. My theory being if it hasn't screwed up by now, you've got a good chance it won't do the nasty later.

Really? I read somewhere that the 2001 Accords had the highest rate of failure (or was that the 2000's...)

Hey Paul

Your looking at retiring your 5th gen and moving on to a 6th Gen?

Not quite yet. I'm having too much fun with it.
Besides, I'm not in the mood to give up sales tax to the *&^% state to buy a new ride.

the problems with the v6 transmissions was not resolved until 2005-2006. the 98-2002 have the most problems.

if you can verify that the replacement trans installed by honda is mid 05 or later, go for it. those have all the fixes and the failure rate on those dropped significantly. Anything replaced prior to about feb 05 is still craptastic and won't live long

most of those transmissions are usually 80K or less. my 98 craped out at 87K and i made the mistake of going to a trans rebuild shop and it failed a total of 4 more times before I sold it (all within 11K miles)
