Just got a 97 Honda Accord SE. Its been sitting for 2 years and we were pre warned that she had a guy come replace the timing belt and it ran around the yard and cut off in the yard. So we had a mobile mechanic come out for an opinion..he checked it out said it was running good and it prob wouldn't do it again. He did a complete tune up on it distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires, oil change, and sea foam to treat the 2 year old gas. So we leave with the car didnt even get a mile down the road and it cuts off when we had to slow down. It has a rough idle, and cuts off when we slow down, stop, or just put it in gear. I was told it is possible that the idle just needs to be turned up to the timing being off to a vacuum leak. Please help.

If it's been sitting for 2 years you have bad fuel. Drain and refill with fresh fuel. Might need a new fuel filter. Should flush fuel rails as well.

drain the old gas if you can.

you'll need fresh fuel, maybe some techron concentrate, then take it for an italian tune up (drive it like you stole it)

check for vacuum leak and routing of the vacuum hoses.
