I just put a free flow catalytic converter few days ago now just not that long ago my check engine light came on. Could that be from the catalytic converter?

I'm not sure, but would guess YES.

what year accord do you have?? if you have a 96+ and the second 02 sensor is not hooked up then that could be the cause.

it's likely that the free flow cat you got, unless it was like a carsound, was just a resonator or a test pipe, in which case, you'll get a CEL unless you somehow fool the second O2 sensor (if you have an OBDII 96-97 Accord). This can be done with a simulator or otherwise. Seen a lot of posts about this lately. And yes, orientation of a true cat does matter I believe.

the cel is likely for "low-efficiency cat". mine car's been throwing it for the last 2 years, it doesnt really hurt anything from what i can tell, it's just annoying. install an o2 simulator to get rid of the cel's.

so are the carsounds throwing cel's. ill be replacing the cat very soon on a 98 lx LEv AND IF I CAN GET AWAY WITH A HIGH FLOW without throwing cel's ever, then im all for it.

it keep the car's from going into close loop operation, it basically give you bad mileage.
the 2 sensor monitor the oxygen level in the exhaust gas, without the converter, you just keeping the earth

you properly dont want to get caught with a non-properly working cat converter(include rusted out cat, hollow out cat, free flow, test pipe and those non-carb eo'ed cat) in SoCal.

on an OBDII all you have to do is make is make second o2 sensor bung or buy one with one from carsound.

I had the same thing happen to me, the place that installed my high-flow cat just hooked the o2 sensor back up ... and I am not throwing any codes any more.

I have a 01 V6. Well, I took it the shop and the shop said that it's from the cat. I went to a local muffler shop to install the cat and they didn't install it properly. I just fixed it up, so far the check engine light is off. Hopefully it'll stay off. Yea, I have the second O2 sensor plugged in properly. Thanks for all your replies.

i dont think direction matters. i could be wrong but when i did my carsound i didnt pick, could have just gotten lucky.

if you got a universal you can get a spark plug de-fouler and have a local muffler shop weld it on there as an o2 bung and screw the o2 sensor in just like stock.

i had a carsound, stock cat and a testpipe. i like the testpipe the best. makes it raspier, but you can feel a bit more push.

yah if you obd2 then you need the bungs in there.. they are there for a reason.. have your muffler shop put in a bung should be like 10-15 bucks tops..

if worst comes to worst and you think you've done it all and still have CEL, after your RESET THE ECU.. then pick up an o2 simulator

then it's being restricted.

i know alot of resonator are directional as well as a bunch of grass pack are

Would a high flow cat help out alot?

I put a high flow cat and 2.25 stainless on my 92.I can feel a little more pull at higher rpms. In 2 and 3 gear is the biggest gain.
