Icon2 Help me tune my CG5

I want to tune my CG5 Accord F23a1 (5 speed), I dont want to swap the engine. I like the F23A1 and I think I could make a nice street car with it. The only thing is being that this is my first car I dont know what to do or ware to get tings done. if you have any advice I would much appreciate it, I live in the Virginia Beach area. Please dont try to tell my that the F23A1 is a bad engine and I should swap to an H or J engine or that I should never have bought an Accord because I dont have too much money and the accord was the only car that was in good condition when I bought it for $1000. Thanks for the help.

I still want to put this update hear. I've figured out what I'm going to do with my accord. I want to make a fast F23A1 SOHC VTEC Twin turbo Honda accord. I know that this is borderline insane with how ambitious it is but that's the kind of guy I am. I still am looking for help on ware to get parts and ware to get some things done, mainly the turbocharging (I still dont know what I'm dong with some things). Thanks for the help and support (and if you are hating and telling me that the idea is dumb, I know it's dumb but I dont care I want to push this SOHC 2.3 as far as it can go and then some.)
It's not insane, it's downright retarded.

I wanted to have a super duper awesome Accord back in the day as well. Do you have gobs of money and feel like dumping it into a ~15 year old car?

RameyBuilt is in VA Beach and they'll be more than happy to build your car for you and take your money. I'm not saying that in a bad way as they do a great job but you're going to pay big bucks for it.

Here is a 6th Gen Accord forum where you'll find some info on building the motor.

Engine & Transmission Mods - 6th Gen Accord DIY and Performance Forums

If you want to turbo, great, there's a bunch of options out there. I'm not incredibly familiar with the 6th gen (I had a 5th) but there likely are direct bolt on kits available. Others will piece together a kit from all over the place.

A H22 swap (very popular) ran me about $7k-8k all said and done for the motor, maintenance parts, labor, etc. I'd anticipate at least $2k for the kit itself and if you're doing any type of building on the motor that can get pricey quick.

Do things right the first time and you won't be fighting little bullshit issues down the road.

Tuning will have to be something you figure out as well. Something like an AEM EMS would be required to tune the vehicle and then you'll have to pay for a tune as well (~$400 or so)

Thanks for the info, I want to try the twin turbo, but you might be right as a first time thing it might be better to start with a small single turbo, and once/if I get enough money to do a twin turbo I will try it. what I posted only a couple minutes ago was sort of on impulse because I was watching some /tuned on the /drive network and wanted to push the limit of a car. I wasn't thinking of reliability, or practicality being that I am young and this is my first mod. I still want to keep the F23A1 as close to stock as possible, because I still am a bit of an insane kind of guy so a nice tuned SOHC is my kind of thing.

Here's your question:

Why? Why do you think a twin turbo is the way to go? Because you saw it on Fast and the Furious?

You have a 2.3L 4cyl engine. You don't even make enough exhaust gas to push two turbos. The guys that have twin turbos are V6's (or larger) with far more displacement than your car. You would have to use two incredibly small turbos to get any use out of them and then you're just complicating the setup.

A single turbo is *way* more than enough for the F-series motor. There's several 700whp Accords with a single turbo.

Then you talk about keeping the motor itself stock? Please, please do research before making these uneducated posts. It's cool to think about but you're honestly wasting people's time and no one is going to spoon feed it to you.

Read through the Forced Induction section, specifically

The 6th Gen Accord Guide To Turbocharging!! - 6th Gen Accord DIY and Performance Forums

Ten seconds to find that. That goes over all the basics of what parts you'd need. Most people are going to do the installation of stuff on their own, the other people are going to pay a shop.

If you're going to pay a shop, which from the sounds of it is the safest bet if you don't want to ruin your car, I'd recommend you look on the local VA forums such as VADriven - 757 which has a Shop List at the very top.

You're going to buy parts from anywhere, there's a million websites that sell them. eBay, Amazon, wherever

Oh look, a F23 Turbo Build Thread -

F23A5 Turbo Build - 6th Gen Accord DIY and Performance Forums

Oh look, a Turbo Kit advice thread -

Turbo kit advice - 6th Gen Accord DIY and Performance Forums

And another -

F23 parts for turbo list? - 6th Gen Accord DIY and Performance Forums

etc

You need to search for the threads, use Google and use the "site:6thgenaccord.com" at the end of your search. There are a metric **** ton of threads talking about this stuff.

And I want to clarify, I'm not trying to dissuade you from modding your car. I modded the **** out of my Accord, S2000, and minor stuff on my daily TL. It's fun, it keeps you out of drugs, and it feels good to know you built something.

I am trying to get you to be realistic with goals. A twin-turbo F23 Accord is not realistic. Single turbo? Sure. H22/H23/F20B swap? Absolutely. Both are well documented on the internet, there's a bunch of people that have done them so there's people you can ask questions about and parts are readily available.

You've created an account and right out of the gates shot for the moon with ridiculous expectations.

Go back through your actual wants/goals (if you've even made a list) and see what you come up with. You may find that going boosted isn't the right fit and doing a mild F23 build or a H22 swap is the best bet. For my Accord I wanted ~200hp and better acceleration - the H22A with it's matching transmission met what I wanted.

There are quite a few people with boosted F22/F23 motors that have posted their part lists, I sincerely doubt you're going to find someone that's not only posted their part list but also linked you to the exact Amazon, eBay, vendor link to purchase - it doesn't really work like that.

Honda-Tech, and I'm sure 6thGenAccords as well, have paid sponsors/vendors that sell most of the common parts for swaps or boost. They are located in a Vendor section on the forum.

You also haven't made any mention of budget which is huge when piecing things together. As I mentioned, my H22A swap was probably $8k all said and done into a $3k car - that's not including any of the other mods (suspension, wheels, etc) that I did as well.

I wouldn't even begin to start going down the path of buying parts until I had a couple grand saved up for it.

We can help each other bro, Fawk da h8ers. I'm working on building two Honda Civics with Spoon engines.....T66 turbos with Naws, and a Motec exhaust system. People hate and tell me it can't be done, but I'm still sticking with my goals. If you need any help with that twin turbo Accord let me know, I live my life about 1/2 mile at a time (stock brakes so i can't really slow down after the 1/4) so I understand where your coming from. Dreams become reality every day!
