Help with crankshaft pully bolt
I need some fresh ideas on getting the crankshaft pully nut broken loose. I tried a 1/2" drive 24" breaker bar with a pipe and all that broke was my 1/2" impact extension. Then I tried without the extension and broke my 19mm impact socket. I need to get this bolt out becouse my water pump is leaking and I need to replace it. Was going to do the timing and balancer belts at the same time. This is a regular bolt that turns counter clockwise to loosen it isn't it ? Any ideas will be appreciated. Its a 94 accord with a 4cyl. non v tec

Re: Help with crankshaft pully bolt
Yes it is a regular nut (left loosey, righty tighty) And its a HUGE pain to remove... it took me about 2 weeks to finally get mine off my block on the engine stand. If the engine is still in the car try using the starter motor (just pull the spark plug wires so it doesnt start) i heard people use the starter to break it loose with their wrench on the nut braced against the pavement.

Re: Help with crankshaft pully bolt
Put the car in 5th gear, step on the brakes and apply constant pressure on the bolt using a breaker bar. Dont just jerk the bar, but hold constant pressure! It will come out! Ive done it many times. Hugh pain in the ***

Re: Help with crankshaft pully bolt
i have had huge trouble before also until i bought my air cat 1/2" impact wrench, 1200ftlbs, no bolt stands a chance anymore lol, seriously though a good namebrand impact with 800+ftlbs of trq should get it no problem.
