!HELP! - 1992 Accord EX Wagon won't start
Hello. I am currently having a starting problem with my 1992 Accord EX Wagon. About a week ago I replace my thermostat because I was no receiving heat in the cabin of the vehicle. After replacing the thermostat I tried to start the vehicle but it wouldn’t start; the engine cranks over as usual but just does not start. It had been a while since I changed the spark plugs so I installed new ones (there was some oil in the spark plug tubes – I am guessing was caused from the vehicles leaking valve cover gasket). After installing the new spark plugs the vehicle still wouldn’t start.
Today I had some free time so I began trying to get this vehicle running. In the past I had an ignition issue with this vehicle. It died on me while I was driving it. I had it towed to the local Honda dealer and they diagnosed it to have a non-functioning ignition igniter. I performed the diagnosis procedure for the ignition igniter as described in a Haynes Repair Manual and the ignition igniter failed. After replacing the ignition igniter, distributor cap and distributor rotor today the vehicle still does not start. Right now I am thinking that the ignition coil may be faulty.
I have also checked to see if there are any loose or disconnected grounds. All grounds are tidy and secure.
Has anybody ever experience a situation like this? I am getting older and losing patience trying to trouble shoot things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks pointing that out and the fast reply. Should this ground wire that you mentioned be a single wire with a ring terminal that grounds to one of the mounting bolts for the thermostat housing?

It doesn't use one of the mounting bolts. There should be threads for a seperate bolt for the ground on top of the housing. I think for that ground, it's a few wires that come together in a ring terminal.

Hey dude, I was itching to answer that problem but some one beat me to it. That ground wire cost me four hundred fifty dollars and a lesson in paying attention to details. I thought it was the electrical system first. I replaced the distributor, fuel pump, spark plugs, and wires and last the not least buying tools to do all of this. I own a 1993 Honda accord ex, seems like the Haynes manual would have mention this but I got some very needed experience. Did you ever get it fixed?

seanbev24 - Thank you for that added information that you provided. I have been trying to make time to get back and work on this no start problem but with the recent holidays I have just had to postpone it.
tymeclock - Was your no start problem the exact same scenario that I had described?
