Gas tank capacity

Gas tank capacity
Accord 95 EX
My gas needle gauge is in the empty line mark, I just drove from Santa Monica to Ventura/ Oxnard thats about 50 miles on the Pacific Coast Highway (1) running between 45-80mph of course just in case I have a spare gas cannister in the trunk.
When I'm about 5 minutes from home I get the out of gas light On but the car is still running so I went to fill her up. thats another 5 miles.
The question is, is there like a reserve tank on this car that I don't know about? When I tried filling her up to full I get this full tank at 12 gallons and change, this is supposed to be a 17 gallon tank as per the service manual.
Anyway its not like I'm complaining or anything so now I know that I can run on that for 50 miles

Your gas tank holds 17.1 gallons. There's no reserve tank or extra capacity. Your gas gauge will, however, go well below the empty line. I just wouldn't recommend trying... Oh, and the gas light comes on when there's about 3-4 gallons left.
