Hence the "guidance". I hate seeing a guy come in here, get flamed for his first 5 posts, then he leaves. It's only taking away from the community

Bore is the same for the both, at 87mm.

The difference is in the stroke... 90.7mm vs 95mm.

im usually around south charlotte. 51 and providence area... also south blvd and 521 when im workin'. yeah...kevin @ hondaworks is putting the motor in. he seems like a great guy and very knowledgeable as well. there were a few things that unexpectedly had to be swapped from the h22 though. like the intake manifold, injectors, oil pump and pick up. anyone in charlotte...have you ever heard of the indie music expo on power 98 or 96.1? just a little hip-hop/rock thing weve got going on. anyway, its good to see others from nc. ill let everyone know how thw swap runs!

That is funny, it should all work fine with your setup since everything is OBD-II. That is unless something is broken. Especially swapping over an oil pump, that is really odd.
Let me know if you have any spare parts though because I am building my own H23/VTEC except with a H22A head and block with F22 pistons and rods, and some other goodies too.
I don't really listen to local radio because I roll with my antenna down and Sirius on.
I usually can be found in either Matthews area or University City where I go to school.

i think the preludes obd2 oil pump housing has the connection for the crank position sensor on it, and the h23 does not. also the intake manifold on the h23 is much smaller, and im not sure if it has the secondary runners in it. as far as the injectors...im not really sure why they would need to be swapped. im sure ill have plenty of parts, what do ya need? ill post up some pics when i can...ill have to borrow a camera since i threw mine at my roomates head(it broke on the wall, not his head)

I got quote for around 2,073 from hmotorsonline.com and that was with shipping cost included (275). The only problem I've ran into is that not enough people know anything about these motors..and the fact that it about 500 dollars cheaper than a h22a kinda makes it a unique swap.

I'm running into some problems myself when it came to figuring out how to convert from OBD II to OBD I..and so far I do know that the USDM H22A uses the same parts that would easily convert this motor to OBD I:

- Injectors (Both the Accord and Prelude part numbers are the same)

- Distributor (can be used from the USDM H22A to run this motor, and the plug from the Distributor is the same in the vtec equipped 5th gens)

- Alternator (6 rib pulley design and can also use the same belt sizes from the USDM H22A)

The H and F series trans (I think manual and automatic) will work but I think you can gain more from the F series in terms of pulling power.

I talked to Steve from hmotorsoline.com and he told me that basically if your looking for replacement parts, parts from the USDM H22 will work. The only downside is you would have to use your Accord power steering pump since the motor came with an electronic steering unit which isn't included with the motor with your purchase.

I think I'm also going to jump on the h23a VTEC band wagon just because it's different and unique and just as powerful as the JDM H22.

Plus disguising it as a red top no one would ever notice it unless the gave the motor a real hard look.

jumper harness man. you should've picked that up easily. you seem like you did some type of research instead of coming in here trying to be spoon fed. so props to you and i hope what i just said helps you move on with your decision.

Thats the idea isn't? Although I wasn't being spoonfed I just asked questions. and did some research

...I've never really dealt with an OBD II motor to and ODB I so like I said before it's all new to me.

So it just plugs right into the ecu and the rest of the engine harness from my own car will plug right in or do I have to use the harness from the motor.

I'm kinda bad with these things lol.

it was gold orignally huh? while u have the engine out u should paint the engine bay, if u dont have the paint, it would still look better flat black! all u need is a couple red scuff pads n some flat black whether rattle can or out of a gun.
But i'll bet it is f fun sleepn on fools. I have a ported n polished F23 vtec head on the way with a ported intake manifold n upgraded fuel n ignition system n drive line on the way to drop in my CB7, i'll be sleepn to.

well i drove around for a while, and the h23vtec definitely pulls harder than a h22a. the midrange torque is excellent and is great for daily driving. there is a small flat spot since the p13 kicks the vtec in a little later than the ecu that comes with the h23, but ill correct it eventually with a vafc or something. ill have to wait to put up pictures since ON THE SECOND DAY I HAD IT SOME BITCH CRUSHED THE DRIVERS SIDE IN AND CAUSED $2500 IN DAMAGE. IF YOU EVER SEE THIS...I HATE YOU. my poor baby hasnt been in a wreck for the 7 years ive had her.
