Default electrical problem

i was putting my alternator back in today after getting it checked by shucks. while i was there i bought a new battery. when i was done putting everything back together i noticed i hadn't connected the 2 wires to my alternator. i went to put them back on and they touched some metal on the alternator. my battery was hooked up so there was a spark and such. now there is some short and i don't know what could be wrong. the battery isn't fried and the alternator had passed the test.

You probably melted the wire somewhere along the way from the battery to the alternator.

Just follow the cables.

Save for a blown fuse or a blown alt/battery there isn't much else I could see being wrong.

If you've checked the fuses and the alt/battery are still good then I'd guess it have to be the wiring.
