Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
Hi, my tranny on my 98 Accord finally went out. I was see if any Acura tranny that you know of that will bolt up to the accord? It is cheaper to fine a CL or TL tranny. Accord tranny go out to much so the yard jack the price on it up. If any of the Acura tranny does fit, is there any thing els I would need like mount, harness or modified plugs, axle, ecu, fly wheel, starter or any thing els I for got. I hope its just a bolt on thing like B and D tranny. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

The accord and the CL share the same engine.. the f23a1 (2.3) and the j30a1 (3.0).. a transmission from either the accord or an acura will bolt right up.. as long as its fro the j30a1

without a doubt they do.. im saying that whether you have the f23 or the j30.. each trans from said motor is the same in either car. i could get a trans from a 98accord with the f23 and it will bolt right into my 98 cl..

any of the 3.0L Trannys should work. your engine is the J30, same as the CL.
J30A1
1997-1999 Acura 3.0CL
1998-2002 Honda Accord V6
but the newer cars also use the same block, so the trannys may work also.

Re: Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
Thanks all for your reply.
So let me get it straight here.
The 2.3l four banger from the accord or cl will fit the v6 j30 engine. Is that rite?
Does the ecu have a built in tcm? If so do I need to change the ecu?
What about the axle and mount, can I used the one on the car?
I just want to double check: The f22 and f23 automatic transmission will work on the j30 engine?
So let me get it straight here.

no, the 3.0 will bolt up to the 3.0 and the 2.3 will bolt up to the 2.3
engine management is different. if your swapping in a 2.3.. youll need the entire thing.. mounts and all.. the bolt pattern on each trans is different between the 2.3 and the 3.0 although the gear ratio and internal of the transmission are the same.

Re: Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
Wrong.
The I4 are the same, Not the V6.
'97 3.0 CL B7ZA
'98-'99 3.0 CL M7ZA
'98-'02 V6 Accord BAXA or B7XA
The accord uses and has the proper provisions for the ATGPS on the left side cover.
The '97 to '99 CL share the '94 to '97 Accord chassis, and do not have the room for a trans mounted ATGPS, so in the CL it was integrated into the shifter assembly.
The '98+ Accords have more room in the engine bay, and the left side cover on the trans is different, as well as the cover mounted ATGPS.
Do not buy a '97 to '99 3.0CL transmission and expect it to work in your Accord. It will bolt up to the J30, but your ECU will not know what gear you are in. If you want to swap parts, 99% of the internals are the same.

Re: Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
Well I was looking at car-part.com and this is what I fond out.
I selected 2000 Acura CL then transmission then it ask me for interchangeable (yes). When the list came back I see that from 97-03 year and 2.2, 2.3, 3.0 and 3.2 engine the tranny came out of. This is what got me confuse and the reply up top is not to clear.

The CL was not made in 2000. They skipped a year.
I'll make it simple:

Vehicle: Transaxle Model:
- Acura 1997 3.0 CL - M7ZA
- Acura 1998-1999 3.0 CL - B7ZA
- Honda 1998-1999 Accord - (3.0L V6) - B7XA

Little bit of a discrepancy with the other post on transaxles identification.
"'98-'99 3.0 CL M7ZA" - Jim Truett - Not according to Mitchell

Re: Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
I have a 2000 Accord V6 with the B7XA trans that has went out again at
185K. I have built automatic trans for over 20 years. Does anyone know where to find the "fix" for the B7XA. I have been told there are some internal modifications to correct the reoccuring failure. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
I know it's a very very old thread;
I'm new to this forum
I just signed up to ask this question:
Is there any 6 speed Manual tranny I can pair with an F23 engine in an Accord 2001?
It actually came stock with a 5 speed manual tranny.
The engine gets so noisy that I always double check to make sure it's in fifth gear.

Re: Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
By noisy what do you mean? Loud exhaust or does the engine make a racket? Verify the correct oil is being used and the engine is in proper working order/tuneup.

Re: Does a CL tranny fit Accord V6?
The engine noise is rather high when the rpm gets above 3500. The noise is not from the exhaust.
Also, I use Total Quartz 7000 and I replace it regularly.
