Default Are Denso and Mitsuba/CME Starters interchangeable?

The online search for yard parts specifically asks you to specify Denso or Mitsuba/CME.

Does this mean that the starters ARE NOT interchangeable? Or is it simply asking for preference.

I asked for a Denso and I got a CME. Will it work fine, or do I gotta go back and make them correct the mistake?

From your other post, you have a 92 EX? The Mitsuba starter is the one for that model. Denso is not available for that model.

You can check here:

Sorry. Yes 1992 Accord EX 4Dr Manual Transmission.

When I check your link, both Mitsuba and Denso are choices. What am I missing? edit: Ah .... all the coupes and the AT sedans only have Mitsuba as an option. However, the MT sedans have both listed.

Same with the online junkyard search. And my existing starter (original) is a Denso.

So are they interchangeable or not?

What I initially checked was for an automatic transmission, in which case only Mitsuba is available. I'll try to see if I can find more info. regarding the two starters for the manual transmission.

This thread appears to indicate the starters are interchangeable for the manual transmission.
