Default Definine answer to a wheel bearing problem

people say wheel bearing but doesnt seem to fall in the category. correct me if i am wrong but if i have a bad wheel bearing, it should make like a harsh screeching sound or something right? mine makes a ticking sound that seems to go with my speed, like a timer for every rotation of my tire. when i go slow, slow ticking... go faster, a faster ticking... can someone confirm?

bad wheel bearing will usually give you a slight humming at highway speeds, but you'll kinda feel it more than hear it....like it resonates through the frame....raise the wheel, spin it and put your hand on the suspension and see if it feels like it's a lot rougher than it should be......compare it to the other side if you need to

maybe your axle is making noise...but yeah, if it was your bearing you could hear a humming noise...

i checked the axles (stock) and it seems to be fine... no tears, no rips... can the axles go bad even though the boot did not ever rip or tear?

oh yea they can wear, axel bearing can develop play in a couple differnt places. as for the wheel bearing when mine went out it was stering sensitive, meaning i would hear it on left turns or slight turns, also if it is the wheel bearing jack it up and you can move the wheels camber /caster around. play in the steering

The speed dependent ticking is definitely a bad CV joint. It won't be long before it turns into a clunking noise around turns.

hmm my car makes a ticking noise too when I drive straight. I havent figured out what it is either. It seems to be more prevalant over small bumps and cracks thou.
