De-ricing my Accord.
I've had my 94 Accord for almost 2 years now and when I bought it,it had a fiberglass body kit on it.The front is just o.k.,but the rear bumper was busted up a bit.I got a new rear bumper but it just doesn't fit well(even after the first one that I had a shop order for me not fit at all).I've been trying to get it painted but every time that I'm ready to take it in something has to be fixed, and we all know that as good as your car might look,it ain't worth **** if it doesn't run, right?
Anyway,I now noticed that the rear bumper is starting to get cracks in it,so there is no way that I'm going to waste my money to get it painted now,so I just decided to ditch the fiberglass body kit and go for a cleaner look.
I looked online to see what looks good and I wanted to get some thought on how good of a product Wings West makes.this is what I want the front and rear bumpers to look like.

My main question is,are these just pieces that fit onto stock bumpers or are they whole pieces?I'm also really concerned about the quality.I just watched the little video that's on the link and it looks pretty good.Is anyone else rockin' Wings West that can shed some light on this for me?

Re: De-ricing my Accord. (Zerophase)
those are just lips, they just go on your existing bumpers, they are made of poly-U
uuuuh go with the rear lip but please dont go with the front, that wing west front lip is ugly.
i think the rear wing west and a nice lip would be hot. i prefer a sir style lip.

this is the JDM CD6 accord SiR lip:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V
if your gonna pay 250+ for a WW front lip that looks okie? but you might regret later on, the SiR lip is for you. there are cheap SiR look alikes on ebay known as the "mugen" lips for about 80 or so.

Hmmmmm? That's actually not that bad looking. The one thing that makes me shy away from those type of lips are when they are not painted the same color as the car itself.I've always found that to be stupid looking, but when it matches the color of the car then it's not that bad looking.
I'm getting new stock bumpers, hopefully today, from a guy off of Craig's List, for $180.I still think that I like the WW front better. My car's color I Midnight Blue Pearl and I think that the WW front will look pretty good on it.
This is the one I would get,but I heard that they are super expensive and super hard to get.
(all the way at the bottom of the page)
http://www.honda-acura.net/for...ge=16
Another thing is that I'm not going for the "super" clean look,I'm keeping my 18's and I have shaved doors(I bought the car like that so it wouldn't have been my choice to do that and it's gonna cost too much to go back),I just want to get rid of the fiberglass parts.
I'm not trying to make this into a race car, because honestly I don't think that it's worth the money or effort, but I do want just a respectable looking car with a little extra punch.

Well you won't get from point A to point B by adding unnecessary weight to the car. And also we can't see the "super expensive and super hard to get." lip because some of us are not members on that website.

Oops, sorry .I forgot about that. The same car is posted up here on H/T but I just can't find it anymore. There was also a thread here somewhere about all of these JDM parts also, but I can't find that either.
And what the hell are you talking about? So you're telling me that if I go to pick someone up from the airport then my car isn't going to go from point A to point B when I put their luggage in my car? The 18's came with the car and It's not worth spending extra money on 16's or 17's just to lighten the load on an already slow car that I have no intention on make a track car out of anyway.I got quoted on a H22 swap for about $4500 that included <U>everything</U> that I needed.I've also heard that boosting the F22B2 isn't cheap either and is a couple thousand bucks depending on if I can get good enough deals on the parts that I need.
All that to say,If I was gonna get a car for the track, then I would just take that money that I would spend on a H22 and turbo and just get a used STI (which I plan on doing somewhere down the road)and go from there.

Don't quite understand how that's rice? You'll have to explain that one.

Yeah, well... That's just like, my opinion, man. Whether it's rice or whether it looks hot is all subjective. I think the WW front lip looks like rice because I think it looks tacky, excessive, and non-functional (aka decorative). I prefer stuff that looks closer to stock on a DD. The question is whether you give a crap what I think.

Not to sound rude (really, not trying to sound like an *******)but I really don't care what anyone thinks looks "cool".I don't think the WW front looks rice at all compared to a lot of other fronts.
One thing that i just don't get is your statement about preferring stuff that's closer to stock.I think this is a common opinion for those who are anti-rice.So my Question is,if you prefer closer to stock, then why not keep it 100% stock?
As far as function goes, how much function does a JDM lip actually serve on a 4 door sedan that's under 150 hp as opposed to a Wings West front lip?My guess, absolutely none.
Look,I'm not trying to rag on anyone for their preferences, I'm just trying to understand why people hate "rice" so much when they were probably the same people that were riced out about 7-8 years ago, because everyone else was doing it and thought it was cool.
I want to get rid of my fiberglass not because I don't like the way that it looks, but because It's just crappy material for a DD auto(I can't believe that Ferrari F40's were made out of this ****),and I want to get something that's more durable.I will say this,I'll get whatever I like that I can find without paying an arm and a leg for shipping. So if I can get a lip kit for cheap then I'll go with that.I'm going to pick up my new bumpers tomorrow and I'll try to get them painted withing the nest few weeks depending on if I get the new lip by then.

Re: (Zerophase)
to answer your question, it is just a lip that you can either bolt on or mold on to the bottom of your existing panels. i would suggest getting side moldings too or get a complete set so that it matches.

Yeah, that's the style that I'm talking about. The car I was referencing to is on the next page(you'll know which one when you see it).
I wish I could find that thread that was on this page.It had all of these JDM parts and an estimated price for all of them.I think that it was claiming that that lip was like $800 and extremely hard to get and or find.I think the quote was "good luck finding one".

Re: De-ricing my Accord. (thabao)
O.k.,I see the one that you're talking about now. It's not too shabby but I think that I like the one on that maroon wagon better.Oh wait, that's the same one but just painted.
Anyway, all jokes aside,I just picked up my new front and rear bumpers today and they are in excellent condition, aside from a few spider webs.Looks like I need to get new lights for them.I'll go to the junk yard next week and see if I can find another Accord to ****** them off of.
I do have a big issue though, the guy who owned the car before me changed the trunk lid to one that doesn't have a place for the license plate,so I guess I'll have to get a friend of mine to fabricate a plate holder out of sheet metal and drill through the trunk lid and bolt it on.What a pain in the ***!

Re: De-ricing my Accord. (professorman)
I have never been hassled about not having lights on my back plate so I'm just gonna press my luck and make it without the light. If I do run into a problem, which is about a 50/50 chance, then I'll just add it on or by that time I'll have money to blow on another trunk lid and paint.
