crash pics - estimates?
Thought I would share my joy from yesterday, any estimates on damage cost?...
http://www.scottstravels.com/hondacrash/
Btw, it was a hit and run... the guy lost control and
perpendicularly crossed 3 lanes directly in front of me, I got
over one lane when I saw him coming, but couldn't get over
another due to traffic...
I T-boned him right behind his back tire at about 35-40mph after
he bounced off the median and came back... he then took off... I
followed, got his license number, then called the state patrol...
this happened at 6:30am, I didn't get home until almost 1:00...
Could have been a lot worse, just happy to be ok...

Just sit back & wait till you get his insurance info and get it fixed at the most expensive place because his insurance will pay for it.

about 1,200-1,500 for exterior damage repair only, assuming nothing inside the engine bay was knock out of balance
looks like you'll need..
new hood
new fender
new head light
perhaps a little stress work on the rack, how's the car' suspension feel?
any knocking, sagging??

At least $4,000 and if he has no insurance hopefully you have an uninsured motorist deductible as part of your policy. I had a hit and run where I was responsible for the $200 deductible and my ins. picked up the rest.
This will not effect your rates/premiums etc because it was no fault to you.

Wow that's got to suck. Sue the bastard after he is convicted in court for hit and run.
I saw the ski rack and I really feel sorry for u now. Can't get to the hill in that snow machine of yours huh.
I live in Ontario and I try to get out skiing every weekend. We don't have the mountains here that u have but we do get a ton of snow.
I have 4 snows on my 99 Accord and I can tell you that I have better traction and control than most SUV's on the road here in Ontario. The reason being simply that most SUV drivers tend to think they are in total control with bald "all season radials."
I pass these people all the time and you should see the looks on their faces when I do. Does this happen to you as well?
Most accidents I witness in the winter are SUV's. The brake lights come on and never go off until they hit the ditch. Panic mode I guess. Brakes are your worst enemy in winter. Better to slap that car in nuetral in a slide and steer out of the way of the problem that try to brake. I've learned this in 20 YRS of winter driving.
The problem with most winter drivers is they don't go out in parking lots and practise defensive manouvers. My boy will be 16 soon and I have spent lots of time in parking lots spinning around. He wanted to know how to "drift" so I showed him and let him try. He can control and steer a sliding car now and I think I will feel much better when he finally hits the road on his own.
There is something to be said about a new male driver that drives like an idiot.
He learns how to control his car when it is out of control. You take a new female driver and most never drive like ********. The bad thing is they never learn how to control their car properly. So later on in life the girls actually become more dangerous behind the wheel than male counterparts. Who would you rather drive your car on snowy roads? Your girlfriend or your Buddy?
I know that the mountain roads are far more treacherous there than any we have here . Are the snows u run on your car good for your mountain roads or do you reqiure chains sometimes? Chains and studs are illegal here in Ontario. I remember the damage they did to our roads when I was a kid.
I know this is off topic but I am just curious to know.
I have one pertanant question for you however. Is your frame still straight? This collision may have made your car a "write-off" if the frame is bent and can't be re-straightened. Does your car ride straight?
