Clicking sound from cluster or steering column
i noticed the other day that there is a ticking sound coming from either my cluster or steering column, cant tell which one.
it only does this when the car is moving. the faster the car moves the faster the ticking noise.
never does it at idle, which i why i can tell where its coming from. I cant just listen around while driving
any info on what it could be would be appreciated

Try reseting the trip odometer. It sounds to be coming from the Speedo Cluster.
The only thing which would cause a ticking noise in the colume would be the turn signal canceling mechanism.

Geez, that's about as bad as having a Mother-in-law attached to your hip; and she's got a megaphone!
I understand that it's apparent whenever you're moving, but does it get louder when you turn? Is the tick noise random, or is it rhythmic? I'm trying to eliminate anything under the bonnet, cuz if there's nothing going on there - it's most likely Cluster-Internal. (Odometer drive mechanism)

it is rhythmic, it sounds like a ticking clock, the ticks get slower and slower speeds, faster at faster speeds.
doesnt change when turning.

With the aide of an able-eared assistant , and a length of either wooden dowel, vacuum hose or if you just happen to have a stethescope; have your assistant lay the dowel/hose or stethescope against the cluster's clear bezel and see if the sound is louder/easier to hear.
I'm still thinking odometer drive mechanism. A stepper motor (controlled by a signal from the VSS advances the odometer/trip meter dependent on the vehicles forward speed.
IE: slower / spins slower, faster/ spins faster
