car dies at low rpms
I got a little problem with my 90 accord. Last night the car was at idle and it just died. Drove it home just fine. Then I went to back it out of the garage and it died again. Seems that the problem is really only at low rpms. Almost feels like a fuel cut out or something. Any help would be appreciated. This car is my daily driver and I want to keep it awhile longer.

First I would check the timing and idle speed, they are related. Another thing that is free is reset the ECU, let the car warm up then unplug the Backup fuse under the hood for 30 seconds, then start the car and let it idle for 1 minute without touching the gas. To adjust the timing you have to unplug the IAC. If it hasn't had a tune up, might as well do that also.

the car is tuned up properly. oil, cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs and even the alternator have all been recently changed. Help here.

that was what I was thinking. How can I go about testing this exactly? Is there a way to test this while driving. I let it idle for like 20 min today and it was cool. It is definately acting funny. It almost felt like the steering got really heavy tonight too (around 1000 rpms coasting down my driveway) I would say it feels like a fuel problem. Fuel system is stock (199,4xx miles) Fuel filter changed about 5k ago. I have a autometer a/f guage (not that accurate) but it is running a hair on the lean side (always has though) motor sounds fine at idle too, no weird sounds.

your question is pretty vague, y0!
does your car stutter and then die, or does it just die?
what about the battery, have you checked it?
have you checked the MAP sensor?, although that usually affects the upper rpm range.
do you have a haynes or helms manual to help you?

well i had the somewhat same problem as your ride, it constantly died off at the low idle, so what i had to do was put the tranny into "N" when i stop at the traffic light and put it back to D4 when it turns to green.... it was just pain in the ***... but it worked for a while... and after doing this for few weeks i got sick and tired of the symptom and just did automagic shift method, moving the shift from D2 to D4 whenever i wanted, like downshift from D4 to D2 to get the boost and stuff,,, after doing this for like year and half, the symptom went off totally. i don't kown if it fixed the problem, but that's how i fixed mine at least....

not to sound like a complete moron here, how would I go about checking for this vacuum leak? I am guessing that it would be on the intake manifold? I recently put on an AEM cold air that replaced my short ram, funny thing is that this was happening before the intake switch. It also doesnt happen all the time, ran fine this morning to work. It did drop idle down last night to almost stall it again, then after like 3 min of driving it was fine. It seems to do this when I least need it to.
