Can the EGR ports still get clogged even after dealer kit is installed?
Well, my car is throwing code 12 (EGR), and my dealer told me that the kid was already done on it, to stop it from clogging. My car hesistates occasionally around 2000 - 3000 rpm. Ill have the pedal pushed an it will act like I'm not giving it any gas.. so.. Couple questions..
Can the ports still clog after the kit is installed?
Would just a bad EGR valve cause the engine to hesitate like that?? The dealer thinks it might be the actual valve itself, and quoted my 30 something bucks for labor, 70 for the part. He suggested that I let them do a diagnostic for $78, and do some "flow charts", so he can pinpoint the problem.
Do you think I should just go ahead and do the diagnostic, or should I just replace the EGR?

the kit only helps makes the cleaning process easier!
throughout time it WILL get clogged once again due to carbon build up (the stuff you need to get out of the egr) so getting a kit etc etc will just make the job easier... but wont solve the problem. theres no way in solving the problem unless you block the egr port.

Find out what causes the problem. If there is too much unburned gas going through you exhausr ports yout EGR system will clog no matter if the EGR is new our not. You need to hook a computer up to your car and find out how much the fuel air mix is.

Installing the kit makes it more difficult for the EGR port to plug. Carbon bonds fairly easily to aluminum, so you drill out the EGR port and install a stainless steel sleeve which the carbon does not stick to as well. Alot of factors affect how quickly they plug up, driving habits and the type of gas you use make a big difference. I've seen Odyssey vans plugged at 25,000 miles from people driving like grandmas and using cheap gas. I've also seen Accords go 150,000 miles without plugging up because the people actually drive the car and use good gas.

ahhh...that's always my advice too. Especially around emission check time.

Yes, i've seen a couple. There is more than one reason for that code though. We see alot of them come back with the EGR valve stuck slightly open where just replacing the valve is all they need. Checking the codes with a scantool will narrow it down flow problem, or insufficient lift. Those are the 2 most common problems, there are others though.
