Default break upgrade

is this list accurate?

Simple rotor-over-hub conversion:

This section will describe how to convert your 1990-1997 4-cylinder Accord to the rotor-over-hub setup for ease of rotor maintenance in the future.

Parts needed:

2 98-99 Acura 2.3 CL Hubs: Honda/Acura P/N: 44600-SY8-A00. Honda/Acura lists this as a hub assembly for a 98-99 Acura 2.3 CL Premium. Beware, do NOT get hubs for the 3.0 CL!
NOTE: Honda includes studs with the hub assembly. DO NOT order studs unless you really want 8 sitting around.

2 Honda Accord Wheel Bearings for your year of car (if yours are OK just press the old hubs out).

2 98-99 Acura 2.3 CL rotors, highly recommended are Brembo or Cobalt Friction rotors.

Use your stock calipers, and remember to replace your brake pads at the same time.

Rotor-over-hub with larger rotor upgrade:

This section will describe how to convert your 1990-1997 4-cylinder Accord to the rotor-over-hub setup with larger rotors and calipers.

2 matching rotors from any of these vehicles:
98-99 Acura 3.0 CL
93-96 Honda Prelude VTEC

2 matching calipers from any of these vehicles:
91-95 Acura Legend LS Sedan (single piston) 23T bracket
91-92 Acura Legend LS Coupe (single piston) 23T bracket
94-95 Acura Legend GS Sedan (dual piston) 28T bracket
93-95 Acura Legend LS Coupe (dual piston) 28T bracket
98-99 Acura 3.0 CL (single piston) 23T bracket
92-97 Honda Accord Wagon (single piston) 25T Bracket
95-97 Honda Accord V6 (single piston) 25T Bracket
97+ Honda Prelude (single piston) 23t Bracket
93-96 Honda Prelude VTEC (single piston) 23T bracket
98+ Acura Integra Type R (single piston) 23T bracket

CRUCIAL NOTE: When selecting a caliper set with brackets other than 23T you MUST replace the brackets with 23T from another caliper, otherwise the caliper will not fit properly over the rotor!

Could this thread possibly concern BRAKE upgrades?

also I did this conversion with the dual caliper 95 acura leagend calipers, and the 11.2" brembo rotors for the prelued. I do have to mention that I HAD to use the 28T brackets, because of corse the 23t bracket was way to small. I also have not noticed any odd wear. this is after 3 months now.

this list seems to be for the 11.2" upgrade, though. not just the rotor over hub conversion. but it does look right for that.

so the cl or prelude rotors are 11.2"? i thought it was a 10 inch and my accord was a 9" rotor. i might be wrong but correct me. where can i find a good cross drilled rotor for either car for a decsent price? im thinking of buying everithing reman. from discount auto parts or nappa. if anyone knows any websites where i can find these parts let me know please. thanks

No the 2.3 cl is the same size rotor as your accord. The 3.0 is bigger which is why you need bigger calipers AND 15" stock ex alloys. So if you do not have the ex's or 16" and up rims, just go for the plain rotor over hub.

my 97 ex allready has 15 alloys. so the 93-96 prelude vtec has 11 rotors aswell? it says to use those aswell on the list. i just HAVE to make sure before i start purchasing. what are some good affordable name brand rotors i can find for either one of these cars for the conversion. any websites would be appreciated

I have heard good things about the autozone rotors (from here). Just get rotors, calipers, and pads from a 3.0 cl. I have the brembo blanks but they were hard to find. All the parts you need should be available from autozone for pretty cheap.

autozone is crap, dura-crap. sorry, I deal with a lot of part stores, and they are the worst out of all. don't know about there rotors, though. So I woulnt diss them on that. I do know that they are one of the most conveninet stors though, and they are more or less the late night, or last option for me.

I never used em but when I was gathering parts for this the autozones were regarded pretty good.

Bottom line w. Auto Zone parts is they are made to be cheap, not for performance. They are likely to warp under pressure. If you werent doing the hub-over-rotor conversion .. this would cost you A LOT more in labor cost to keep replacing the warped rotors (prob. about $250ish each time). B/C the conversion will allow you to change your own rotors .. i suppose you have to option to keep putting on new rotors every 6 months and deal with the lack of performance to save cash ... but if you can .. id recommend you put on some brembos (prob. about $145 SHIPPED) and get good performance increase and longer brake life. .. in the long run it will prob. be the better bargain .. but for NOW .. AutoZone is cheapest.

Im slightly confused as to how the Accord bearings (that are designed to be pressed into the rotor) .. can now be bolted to the rotor?

i am too confused. im gonna get either the 93-96 prelude vtec or cl 3.0 rotors by brembo. i am going to get legend 2 piston calipers and t3 brackets which on the website states they were remanufactured. im still confused about the bearing for the accord that now the hub is in the rotor. any help on that would be appreciated. where can i find brembo rotors for the cars i have stated above?

parts train most likely, and there are tons, of others, just search. as far as the hubs they both use the same bearing. Even look at the part numbers, on the bearings. it is just a differant desing of hub.
