i have a frend who has crappy fuel injectors, and when he starts the car before the engine even turns on it keeps making this sound like a giant old *** door creaking open but quickly, any ideas? =/

Injectors will make a clicking sound when running.From what i have read they click or they don't.I can not see how they would make the noise you say.Run a good quality fuel injector cleaner or some seafoam through the system and see if that helps.If they are leaking on the outside he needs to replace them or have them rebuilt. Seeing how he hears the noise before he turns the car over,it could be the fuel pump.

You need to better describe the symptoms. Creaking noise before the engine turns on? Is that during cranking, when the ignition is first turned on???

well theres no leakage, but the sound comes on as soon as the ignition turns on i might giive him that advice on the seafoam tho, ill c if that helps

I agree, it sounds like it could be the fuel pump. Why don't you try listening to it from the front and the rear to verify it. unless you are for certain that it is coming from the front?

If the sound is before the engine cranks it's more than likely the fuel pump. You can rule out injectors as a cause of the noise. They don't start to work until you turn the ignition to the start position and the engine is running.

thanks ill look into it, i know its coming from the front but for some reason it can be heard loudest from inside at the front seats and it might have sumthing to do with his car stalling from time to time since we got stuck on the highway once

Check your main relay, I have never heard of it making any noises before but it could be an electrical short that you are hearing???? Any way of you getting a video of this problem?

probably not dont see him everyday but its not an electrical short i know that much, heres how it happens in order. first he gets in the car turns the ignition its sounds regualr then while the seatbelts are locking in place that loud door creaking soud rumbling sound comes while the car ELECTRICALS are already on

Best thing I can suggest is too have one person turn the ignition and another try and pin point exactly where the noise is coming from. that way you can limit to what is in that area of the car. You mentioned that it is louder inside the car so I would start there. Could be the fuel relay but I have never heard them make a screeching noise?????
