Default Anyone here actually running the JDM F22B dohc engine?

I have a 1992 EX wagon with the stock f22a4 sohc, but its using like 2 bottles of oil each week. I found myself a complete jdm f22b dohc non vtec engine/tranny combo for $600 Canadian which seems like a great deal as i understand its pretty much plug and play.
Information on this swap sure does seem to be limited, and i have not comae accross a single post about anykind of performance numbers accomplished by anyone who's done the swap. I'm not looking to race, but wonder if 0-60 times would be in the 7-8 second range?
How's drivability? Any comments would be appreciated, thanks!

Well i just bought a 90 accord with one already swapped into it. i cant tell you much about the swap, since i didnt do it, but from what ive seen it is a pretty plug and play opperation. the only problem is that you'll need a P39 ECU, and from what i hear their rare. unless of course your motor trans combo comes with one. The previous owner had mine dynoed and it puts down more torque than HP. dont ask why, i dont know myself. it put down 152 HP and 159 Ft lbs. of TQ. i dont know my 0-60, but ill find out today. i do hear that these are great engines to boost, but that may just be hearsay. any other questions feel free to ask.

Oh i almost forgot, as far as i know, the only mods are a short ram intake and a straight exhaust (No Cat No Resonator) to a greddy catback. it may seem that it would be obnoxiously loud, but its really quite mellow sounding.

Code: F22B
Displacement: 2156
Power: 160@6000
Torque: 148@5000
Compression: 9.2:1
Bore: 85
Stroke: 95
Cam Design: dohc
VTEC: No

Its a good motor, and that sounds like a good deal to me assuming its in good condition. It will definitely be an upgrade over what you have now in terms of power, and from what it sounds like you could use a new motor anyway. Id go for it.

Well, had the engine delivered today. It looks next to new, even under the valve cover, the cams and valvetrain look to be in new condition. I will post a number of pics tomorrow for those interested.
Also, i think i'll take the opportunity to go through the install, steps taken, and my afterthoughts on it once installed and running.

Thanks for input to those who've pitched in so far!!

do you have greddy sp2 or EVO2. because i have the SP2 with a straight pipe on my CL, and it sounds mean. i was gonna ditch the resonator but i thought it would sound ricey. so does it or no??

well, first off i have the SP2 as well. as for the straight pipe, someone cut out the whole center section and replaced it with a straight section of pipe, then left the cat, but sleeved it. It not ricey, but when i bring the accord to about 5-6K RPM, it no joke sounds like one mean all motor car. i dont know if im comfortable with it for daily use, but ill live with it because it sounds mean. not too loud, just noticable

Well here's a preliminary pic of the swap, not cleaned up yet, but it fits good.
Only 2 issues i have to deal with is the power steering hose, which needs to be modified, and to finish the wiring with the coil from external to internal. I got the engine running perfect, but am still missing a siganl to the tach and speedo. As soon as it warms up, i'll finsh off the job

So what are the install steps? What else did you have to buy or modify? I am about to order one for my 91 accord LX auto. What did you have to swap from engine to engine? What was the over all cost? How was the company you bought it from? ect ect ect.
Thanks

It should be a pretty much straight forward swap...change the egr valve use your stock one...use your factory wire harness...I love mine...I'm running 2.5 inch with a resonator and a cheap muffler and it sounds great.

The swap has been pretty good. Sure, it is on the dirty side, but we have a lot of wet snow and the roads are messy this of year.

For the money, its a very good up grade in power as well as gas mleage!
