Any way to eliminate Whistling in AEM CAI?

Any way to eliminate Whistling in AEM CAI?
Hey guys. Before I got my AEM CAI, I knew that whistling would be common with the AEM CAI. But the thing is, my friend's Accord doesn't whistle at all with his AEM CAI. And his friend's Civic Si doesn't seem to make a whistling noise either.
Are there modifications I can do to get rid of my whistling? It's getting very annoying when I want to have a quiet drive. My Accord is 6th. gen. by the way.
It whistles when I rev. slightly and goes away when I rev. higher. This becomes annoying when I want a smooth quiet ride and rev. slightly. If I wanted a spirited drive, I'd not hear the whistling since I'd rev. high.
If you guys can give me some suggestions, I'd appreciate it. An odd suggestion I heard was boring out my throttle body. The whistling does seem to come from the throttle body (since it sounds close to my ear) but boring a TB seems too much. Thanks. Later.

Re: Any way to eliminate Whistling in AEM CAI? (showgunz)
it may just be the filter actually...and you'd hear it at the throttle body or intake manifold...i've never heard of this with the aem cai...but then again i don't know of anyone with this either...if you are a daring person you could check this by taking off the filter...turning on the car...and giving it one rev to see if that eliminates it...but i don't suggest runnin' the car very long like this due to engine damage...

Hey. Yeah, that's a good suggestion and will eliminate/locate the possibility of the filter causing the noise. I wish that I had tried this when I had the bumper off. It's not too hard to take the bumper off but it's a hassle. Well, removing the fender lining doesn't seem convenient either. Thanks, I'll look into this! Later.

I just bought it! It's been a month now I guess. Did I not tighten a certain part right? Or have my filter too low/high up the arm? I'd rather not drive around my neighborhood with the bumper off and experiment with the CAI. Haha. Though, I did this when I was putting my underbody spoiler on. Later.

Its nothing you did wrong, its just the way the filter is. I have a Aem cold air it was the older style that came with the k and n filter mine doesnt whistel one bit but now they come with the aem filter, thats where the whistling is coming from the damn aem filter.

Hey. Hmm, this is the first time hearing this. And so far, you may be right. His has the K&N filter whereas mine is the AEM filter. So, have people started complaining about whistling only recently? AEM didn't use their filter until some months ago. So if people complained about whistling before AEM came out, then I don't know it might not be only from the filter design. Later.

I dont know dude, Most people it dosent bother them i have a friend with an civic si and it dosent bother him, i dont know i guess its all personal prefernece, i dont think they changed anything else but the filter, but hell for all i know i could be leading you in the wrong direction. It was just my thought on the matter. To tell you the truth i dont think most people complaine about it. Good luck though.

Mine Humms/Whistles like a ****, and has since day one. I have a 6th gen coupe 4cyl stick. Theres another one in my area and it hums like mad too. I have the K&N filter one, and it humms reguardless. They tuned it to hum because it helps vibrate the throttle plate

I have an AEM CAI with a K&N on my 93 civic and it whistles very loud when i push on the throttle, sounds like an N/A turbo or whatever, but I love the whistle!!
Just change your filter if you don't like it.

My AEM CAI whistles as well. It is only noticable inside the cockpit under partial throttle though.

my short ram whistes at the peak of my rev.
most know i am auto, but as soon as i press the pedal its ok but right as i let go it starts.. if i keep my foot on the pedal and release slowly it gets louder and longer.. i was driving my one of the local "rice shops" and it made the noise.. i was like oh S**t.. cause i knew exactly what was going to happen.. i stopped at the light and in my rear view mirror.. came a gang of cavaliers and neons... they all thought it was a BOV.. lol.. they ask what amount of boost i was running .. oh man..

mine makes a scratching type whistle at idle and goes to a almost human like whistle under partial throttle. I will see if I can find a way to record this and get it on the computer for you all to hear. It is definatly a sound I havent heard before from an intake. I guess it is "exclusive" to the V6 motors.

my stock intake with a k&n filter and is now minus the resonator has a mean sound that i love...it's awesome...when press the pedal all the way down you can hear a really deep throaty sound...but when you are just cruising at regular throttle it's no different than with the regular muffler...

Hey. Actually, I hear whistling from almost anybody's car. But then I also heard some people's car (like my friend's Accord and Civic Si) don't have whistling. So I know that they must've done something with their installation or what not to eliminate it. They don't know what they could've done to eliminate it.
The sound only comes when I'm moving and using partial throttle. At idle, there's the usual humming from the CAI. At mid-throttle, the whistling goes away and it becomes no whistling to a growl. Whistling is probably the sound made by the throttle plate being slightly open. And I need to make the car move in order to hear this. So at around highway speeds, I can hear the whistling even when I'm adjusting my speed slightly. It is so annoying now! It's very high-pitched and doesn't sound like anything out there but a human whistle! No, not a turbo spooling/blowing or whatever...
I'm going to try to experiment with this. I'm not sure if the splash guard design has anything to do with it. But I'll try to get to the bottom of this and achieve whistle-free sound! Hehe... thanks, later.
