Re: Accord Type-R Turbo build thread 56k 3x BEWARE
Originaly nothing was wrong, i still have my 11:1 pistons lying at garage floor, just as the rods. Can sell them to sameone, very rare.
Mahle Golds that you can see in first pictures are just ****, i didnt do anything, they just broke. End of story. Piece of crap.
I love your quote about the boy. :D

looks like piston to wall was incorrect with the mahle's.
very nice so far. how many miles on the head?

man, this build is sick. you never see accord builds as it is, but a type r, that is just awesome. keep up all the accord love dude!! get her running and lets see some numbers.
any plans for boost or a hp/tq number you want to hit.
i dunno if you mentioned this already, but what are the plans for it in the future? Track/circuit car, DD? Should be insane when it is done. Good luck dude!

clearances where ok. its just when you go on a cheap side and decide not to have any sleeve change. mahles just broke, for no real reason. their coating is crappy.

multi-million dollar company... whos been putting out all type of engine upgrades for YEARS... whos currently making an h22 piston so you dont have to resleeve... you hear good and bad things... its not the product, its the builder.

Just so you know, i have made lot of honda and subaru racing cars, lot, i mean a lot of engines have broke down in the past, but even more have survived and works till this day. I have made tons of mistakes, especially if things move around huge peak power numbers.
But on this car everything was correct, Im sure for that.
Firned of mine also had the same problem with Golds.
But, when we contacted mahle with pictures inclusive, they approved that we got first shippments of the Golds, they solved that metalic coating problem later on. We both with my frien got one of the first shippments ever available. It was long years ago, 3 or 3 and a half.
Trust me, i know when to blame myself. As everyone i learn from my mistakes. At least try to.
Have a nice day.

New? they have been around for a long time. theres pros and cons about them. they work for some and fail others. i recently put them in my h22a without sleeving and the motor lasted a month before they ate the sleeves. i think my motor guy over bored the sleeves when "cleaning them up" causing piston slap though. so i wouldnt blame the pistons

So would I be better off just getting the prelude type-S pistons and calling it a day? The Mahle seem like they arent really a long term solution...
By new I meant the 2nd generation of them because I know Mahle had discontinued their first iteration of them and re-released them after re-engineering them, sorry.
