Accord low gas mileage

Accord low gas mileage
2000 Accord 4 banger
With the price of gas heading toward what europeans or japanese pay at the pump I need some help. This car is currently returning less than 20 mpg(hwy), where as about a year ago I could get 29 mpg(city/hwy). During that time I replaced the catalytic converter with an after market cat. and also had the two half axles swapped with refurbished ones because of a bad CV boot.
Any suggestions as to what can be done to remedy the problem?

LOTS!!! LOL any codes or rough idle? tire pressure should be check frequently, ignition, intake, fuel. belts. oil. has the car been thouroughly looked at to see if anything is out of the ordinary? sounds like (correct me if i'm wrong) there hasnt been much maintenance on the owners part.

There is no check engine light and the idle is normal. The car is maintained up to the level as called for in the owner's manual. The maintenance schedule is followed but anything beyond such as cleaning the iac or tb haven't been done yet. The only thing that has been neglected is waxing the car on regular basis because the exterior paint is peeling off. Then again I see lots hondas going bald before it's time. Oh yeah, the transmission also jerks once in a while.
I'm going to stray from the topic here; but, with hyundai/kia having drastically improved their quality and ford/gm/vw having been taught by the japanese how to make cars and toyota/honda dropping the ball right now my next purchase will most likely not be a honda. This is a fact very few in america knows, but not too long ago porsche sent headhunters to japan to hire retired toyota/honda engineers to teach them how to make cars. Engineered in germany but with a japanese sperm donor, I guess. It looks like toyota/honda better ask for the engineers to come back. There are too many parts on the accord that gave up the ghost before it's time, unlike our family's 1982 corolla.

Re: Accord low gas mileage
I have the same problem right now with my 2001 but I cant even get 20. I know there is something wrong but havent been able to locate the problem as of yet. Is it common for the fuel injectors to go bad on these? Thats about the only thing left in my case it can be. Im trying to find the fuel pressure adaptor at the moment to check my pressure.
