Accord 4 cly motors?
Can any1 help me figure out what motors were in 4 cyl Accords from 84-present.
I know the more recent ones are F22/F23 SOHC VTECs making 130-150HP. But I have no ides about the older ones. When did VTEC first come to the Accord? Were they always in the 2.2L range?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Accord 4 cly motors? (SOHCkordVTEC)
4th gen = 90-93?
Are you sure about that "last part of 4th gen" cause I almost bought a 90 ex with vtec.

Re: Accord 4 cly motors? (smokin rubber)
All 4g (90-93) were 2.2L SOHC non VTEC engines between 125 and 140 hp. I am 99.9% possitive the 4g never saw VTEC. First year of 5g saw the arrival of the 2.2L SOHC VTEC. With the 6g came the 2.3L.
All I know about the 3g is the LX-i which was a 12 valve F20 (I think).

Re: Accord 4 cly motors? (SPiFF)
From Jeff at vtec.net and some research on the net, this is as best as I can figure for USDM Accords from 1984-Present. Not sure on the power ratings of the 2.0L and 1.8L motors though. The 2.0L was I think an A20 series. For reference if any1 is interested:
'84-'85 Accords had 1.8L motors in injected (SE-i trim) and carbed forms
'86-'89 Accords had 2.0L motors in injected and carbed forms
'90-'93 Accords had 2.2L injected motors
'94-'97 Accords had 2.2L injected motors in VTEC (EX) and non-VTEC forms
'98-present Accords have 2.3L injected motors in VTEC and non-VTEC (DX) forms
The 2.2L non-VTEC is around 130hp and 140 ft-lbs depending on year.
The 2.2L VTEC is around 145hp and 145 ft-lbs depending on year.
The 2.3L non-VTEC is 135hp and 147 ft-lbs.
The 2.3L VTEC is 150hp and 152 ft-lbs.

Re: Accord 4 cly motors? (whiteconfusion)
There was a 4th gen that did have VTEC. It was, of course, JDM and had a twin cam (I think it was an F20A) with VTEC. I think this is right....

The F20B that powered the Accord SiR. It's basically a H22 destroked to 2 liters (better rod to stroke ratio than the H22 and revs higher safer) that made 220 PS. This is the engine that the blue VTEC valve covers come from.
Hard to find and expensive. Last one I saw had 60,000 miles on it and was selling for $4,500.
